Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - ...concerning njs campy stuff.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. so i saw the campy njs sheriff star hub on ebay ...and i was wondering why would a hub notorious for flange breakage receive njs certification?
yeah, but is there a version that campagnolo made with keirin certification in mind ...or did some njs cerification person just pick up some c-record hubs, deem them "worthy" and put a stamp on them?
yeah, that was me...sorry
didn't we tell you to leave that njs stamp at home? :p

have you ever heard of a sheriff star flange breaking on the track? every explosion story i've ever heard (albeit there aren't many of them) involve taking these buggers to the street, where they get abused a little bit more.

Campy definitely worked hard to get the C-Record NJS stuff certified. I heard it was slow going with the Japanese trying to protect their component manufacturers and national pride.
Anyhow, yeah, like crushkilldstroy said... Last I heard, most Keirin tracks don't have curbs or 6"-deep potholes.
...ah, i see. which only furthers my suspicion that njs stuff is in no way or form equal to street tuffness, just keirin proof...

Over at the CampyOnly site, there's a copy of the 1991 catalogue with a section for the Keirin subgroup of the Record Pista lineup.
I saw the hub, too. Sure is pretty!

Yeah some hubs failed not all of them do. Again I have alot of Campy Super,Nuevo and C Records hubs that are going on 20 plus years.
It's who build them what counts. Yes I messengered on 28 hole super records hubs at 220lbs for 8 yrs.
I use only the front now since they stole the back in my final year messengering.
The metal was lighter in the later years like in the late 90s but if you can't get them build correctly then it is going to suck for you.

CEYA!
