Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I know, What bike should I get threads are lame, but I want to add another Surly to the fleet. I'm torn, I rode a Salsa Dos Niner in Vegas this year, and it rocked, but it was on western single track. I live in Ohio, and ride East coast single track. I take my cross-check on some flatter trails and it sems okay but the KM's got a shorter back end so it should handle more like a 26". If I get the 1x1 I already have all the parts for. I hate bikes, and I hate thinking about them. Any ways I'm planning a trip to CO next year and this will probably be the Bike I take. If any one has any suggestion let me know, East or West. "One is all you need" Thanx

I hate bikes...
woah there.
I think you should get a monkey. for many reasons that I feel like keeping to myself.
I've went over to the 29" side. I think they make more sense and are more comfy.
How tall are you and how advanced/technical are the trails you like to ride?

I'm 6'1" I can handle about anything, I lived in in CO back in the 90's and I've lived In MD So I've ridde both extremes.
If you have all the parts for the 1x1, then I'd go for it. (By parts are you referring to fork and wheels?)
I was trying to find a good 29" pros/cons webpage I have previously seen, but I could not find it.

I would say 1x1, just because you have the parts for it and it would be a shame to see them just lying around.

I'm a surly fan I already have a Intstigator and a Cross-check, I have a Giant XTC that is currently a single speed, but she's getting tired. I've thinking about the 853 niner, But I love my Surlys
Get the Monkey and spank it. A good 29er can handle the twistiest of trails and still smoothe out the ride.

Get the monkey. "All the parts" for your 1x1 should be usable for the KM, with the exception of rims (or wheels, if they're already built up). Put together a set of Formula discs and Salsa Delgados and you are all set. Plus, you can turn it into a road bike if you ever get sick of it. :)
Ya'll make me happy in my choice of a 29er. It's in the works, form Spicer!

Man if they made some 29" hookworms, I would fix one and that would be one badass urban everything bike.

They're not hookworms, but I've got a pair of 700x60 big apples on the way. They oughtta make the monkey a pretty scary urban contender.
