i think my bike is enough. ive never been to a gym in my life but people still ask me if i lift weights(sp?). im not the biggest, strongest person in the world but im as strong as i need to be. its all from riding for a few years

i used to pump iron until i got really strong but it was too much dedication too keep with so i stopped. i realized u dont need all that strength for bmx anyway but thats true wat u said about bunnyhopping.

i lift sometimes. we do it in school alot but nothing big, or alot of reps. i do benching and curling when i am with my freinds, and sometimes i leg press when i am in the school gym.

i dont think you need to be big to be good at biking.

i don't think you have to be big either but i am.im pretty heavy cause im muscular and im 6 foot 1.i workout a lot,i guess if i get off the weights i'll get lighter but i likes being "macho" lol...

i dont really have a routine, but i jsut bench press an unknown amount of weight on my bar 20 times a few times a day. its helped noticably. for instance. funny story: i used to not be able to do a pull up like a year ago, so i never tried them, then i started doing push ups and bench pressing and running and i got skinnier, and stronger. so today, i was walknig down the hallway in our school. i passed through a door that you can grab the top and do a pull up. i thought to myself "i wonder if i can do a pull up now?" so i grabbed it and pulled up with all my might. sure enough, i can do a pull up. i went up so quick, i busted the bridge of my nose on the top of it. it seemed effortless to do so as well. tomorrow im gonna go to the gym and see howe many of them i can do.

I ride my road bike about 200-250mi/wk, including sprints, intervals and plenty of climbing, so I'm fairly ripped without having to hit the gym much. For BMXing your biggest benefit doesn't come from strong legs or even strong arms...you're going to want solid core muscles (abs, obliques, lower back). These muscle groups are key in any freestyle oriented sport since THEY are the muscles primarily responsible for balance and changing position, both on the bike and in the air. You don't want to be *heavy* or bulky, either...why spend all this time and money on a light bike if you're a tank yourself? The same laws of physics that apply to your bike apply to your body.

I'm a tank, but more of a solid guy with a little extra. My bike isnt purposely light either.
