Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Riding Glasses?

Anyone here wear sunglasses or riding glasses when you ride? Any suggestions on things to look for other than just running to the store and picking up some ray-bans?

I wear a pair of orange lensed Ryders. Cheap for when I inevitably break or lose them and not too dark for twilight riding.

buy some safety glasses- sunglass style, super cheap.

i use uvex XCs, since they also have exchangable lenses.

I've got some cycling glasses that theoretically have interchangeable lenses--though last I looked nobody actually sold them separately. Mainly I was little buzzed at a bike show and got silly. They were $45 which isn't much in the realm of sports eyewear, but you can get a decent pair of safety glasses that perform pretty similarly for a lot less.

Look for something with full coverage or the wind seeping in around the sides will annoy you. It's best to find something with a curvature that more or less matches your eyeball. That makes for a lot less visual distortion as you look around. That's what Oakley charges the big bucks for, nobody does it better. But you can do ok for quite a bit less money.

I have some tifosi's and they come with three sets of lenses and a "hard" shell case and bag, they will run around fifty to sixty dollars.

My husband and I both have pairs of sport glasses from Zeal Optics (http://www.zealoptics.com) that were customized with our prescriptions. Very comfortable, and have interchangeable shatterproof lenses. I opted for photochromatic in my primary pair so they work great in low to medium bright light. I'll be ordering a extra polarized lens set before next summer. Zeal is located in Moab, so they seem like a bigger brand here in the valley - though I wish them luck in their move into bigger markets.

I recently bought new glasses, so I just wear my old ones to ride (with one of those reallly cool "sporty" straps). I also always wear a helmet with a visor to keep the worst of the sun out of my eyes.

b.t.w. the strap mabye lame as heck but I just had a little spill, broke my helmet visor, and a rib but kept my glasses securly on my melon.

ususally wear a pair of smiths with intergangeble lenses at work, myself. got brown, orange and yellow, for different seasons. the yellow actually works really well at night. you'd be surprised.

rest of time i usually just throw on something that suits the light outside. i even have a pair of clear ones that fade from totally clear at the bottom to a light grey on the top.

but i ALWAYS like to have eye protection of some sort when i'm riding; i wear contacts.

I used to work at Dick's sporting goods (a chain store around here) and they had these tight raquet ball glasses that I wanted to cop. Imma have to get those...thanks for the reminder yall

I have a pair of Natives with clear lenses in them.

I need new glasses. I bought rediculously wide armed glasses and now have no side to side vision. It's way too easy for people to sneak up on me and I have to pretty much turn around to see the side of or behind me. Not good for riding my bike in the city.

Or fighting ninjas.

Lately I've been sportin' a pair of wrap around sunglasses that fit over my regular glasses... retiree style.

But I typically wear my normal glasses for commuting, or a cheap pair of ryders for longer (road) rides with less traffic.

Adidas Evil Eye Pro or Gazelle.

I am afraid I am now in the age of reading glasses, which is why I clicked on this thread. I was wondering about airflow comments until I scrolled back up and squinted.
