Advocacy & Safety - Montana Senator Jim Elliot defends Critical Mass

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I like that he defends it, in spite of his annoyance of cyclists.

In fact, in rural Montana, where I live, I tend to be more annoyed by cyclists who choose to tour our extremely scenic and narrow highways than sympathetic.
...
I’m not going to have warm fuzzies when after I round a curve I have to go into the ditch as an alternative to head ending a semi or killing a trio of cyclists riding abreast (yeah, it happened)
WTF? I just crossed Montana off my list of places I'd like to visit. Hey Senator, how about slowing down when you head into those blind curves. Lots of tractors and farm animals out on the road in Montana.
I wouldn't really call this a balanced viewpoint. The man lives thousands of miles from the nearest rush-hour traffic jam.

You are missing the point. Even someone who doesnt like bikes can see the implications of the massive violation of Americans civil rights because of the police repression of NYC Critical Mass. This is thinking that is absent on many riders here in BikeForums.

What is CM? Is itjust a big mass ride?
droves of riders (usually themes) take the streets f-up traffic and have a good ol' time- I like the Cutter rides in San Diego a bit better- but if you get the chance you should take part in a critical mass its fun and gets people on their bikes
