Hey, for the last couple months i've been running 36H Araya super 7X rims front and rear. Now though, i've been working on my spins a lot,(and just basicaly rinding more, and harder) so i've been breaking a lot of spokes in my rear wheel. I like the rim strength, weight and quality of the chrome(no chips, cracks, flakes, ect.), but I just think that I need to go 48H rear. So far though, i've only found them on-line in one place, but they were like 75$. So if any of you guys(or girls) know of any place I could find a chrome 48H Araya Super 7X, it would be great if you could let me know, thanks a lot.

i think that despite being a weight wennie in just about everthing else...people shold eccept "heavy rims" now i dont mean Alex Tripple walls...i mean good strong rims...like Primo HulaHoops...probobly the best....


Basically...go with a Primo Hula Hoop in 48H...there very strong....and fairly light...

Like I said, the strength of the rim is good enough, so I feel no need to go to a Hula Hoop. I like the Arayas, and I want to keep rims as a pair(I don't want to run 1 Hula, and 1 Araya). SO again, all I want to know is if anybody has an idea of wehre these rims(chrome 48H Araya super 7X)might be available. I do not need help on choosing what parts to put on my bike.

Oh yeah, The Primo Balance rims suck. If you want my opinion, go get a 36H Araya.

Broken spokes have more to do with poorly built wheels and uneven spoke tension than with rim strength. Just figured I'd mention that, 'cause chances are it's not your rims' fault.

I'm not blaming my rim, all i'm saying is that I need that SAME rim just with 48 spokes. 36H rims need more attention and more work to stay true and to keep the spokes the right tension, I don't have the time to constantly be tightening spokes, and making sure the rim is straight/true, so I just want it in 48H.

i think that they dont make them anymore...at least they dont get them in the US
i remeber reading a Brian Foster bike check...and he said that he was running the same rims as you...Araya 7x...and he said that he was trying to find one for his back wheel beucase he had messed it up and had a backup wheel on...and he said that they were hard to get in the US...and Dans no longer sold them...SO good luck getting them...

Primo Hulahoops are more better!

Super 7Xs are infinitely better than Hula Hoops; Araya's chrome is superb in comparison to every other company out there, and those rims are just as strong as the Hazard Lights or 7KAs are.

I guess i'm just gonna bite the metal bullit and get the rim from 3 Ride for like 65$(I posted the link before). Then i'm just going to buy the rest of my wheel from Dans, and build it myself.

So what you're saying is that you have very little experience with them, but yet you're saying that the heavier rim with chrome that peels off in sheets on occasion is superior? Bravo to you.

edit: And for the record, I ran Hula Hoops front and back for four years. They may be durable, but they're unnecessarily heavy, in addition to having crappy plating.

What the hell are you talking about? I'm talking about just the rim for 60 some bucks, not the wheel.

speaking of flaking or chipping chrome...

my hazzard rim in the rear has a little spot that has some sort of redish outline and then less shiny metal inside the ring...

have my brake shoes melted through the chrom??? or...what the hell is that?

Talk to Nuno at Odyssey for that sort of thing; assuming that the rim isn't several years old, it's more likely than not that he'll warranty it.
