Mountain Biking - Horay I ordered new parts!

Yay! I got a new chain and cassete by SRAM, Deore XT back and LX front derails, and finally two new hansventure tires!:) Except I have to wait like a week or two:(

this last sunday i went back to this old river bed i ride on sundays. eh, that sounded off. anyway, it was so muddy (the mud here is like clay, you can make balls out of it, reminds me of C-4 :p) i had to actually walk about ten kilometers of the way. and i could not even push the bike. the wheels just would not move. so i had to carry the motherfacker. the few portions that i could bike on- far and few between- surprisingly enough my rear xt as shifting as smooth as it normally does, even with all that mud caked all over my chain my everything. well okay not as smooth as normal but it shifted without any weird sounds and no extra force needed on the shifters etc. i was really surprised. my front deore just would not budge (later i found out there were small rocks caked inside the mud between the front cogs..) but the xt was really shifting man. you gotta give props to shimano for that xt sucker. by the time i came back on the road after that river bed, this farmer fellow was so surprised seeing me and my bike, all muddy, he actually literally dragged me into his house and handed me a hose. it was funny. and cool. i had another twenty odd kilometers on the road to get back home after that so i just hosed off the chain and cogs and a few parts around the wheel so the wheels would move! next time i should carry some chain lube with me..

which reminds me, i still need to clean my bike. :eek:

hey by the way, i just bought extra chain pins. the EDIT cost me over a dollar per pin. what the heck is up with that? i asked the dude for a new chain with a powerlink and he was asking 3000 baht ( 75 dollars) for the damn chain. what the heck is going on? how much do you fellows buy your chains for man?

i hope you don't go around banning me for saying this but don't you think it is a little, well, prissy (or 'fussy', if you prefer) to threaten to ban me just because of a joke (even though it might have been, in various opinions, a poor/weak/distasteful[?] one)? i mean the kid bought new stuff for his bike, gastro came up with that 'meh' smiley thingie which was sort of like a damper (it would have been for me if i had posted all excited about buying new parts) so i was just trying to say hey gastro, that is not so nice man, but tried to make it funny/foolish/light a bit. i guess my sense of humor is all f*cked up. you can delete my posts if you want, they ARE irrelevant. though what else do you do in a thread that is excited about new parts except join the fellow and be excited with him? anyway, this site is good for me and i want to be able to read it so i will do whatever you want.. in fact i will just keep my mouth shut and just only ask for advice when i need it because i really am too new/stupid to give any anyway.

ps, EJ- i am indian, but live in thailand because my wife teaches here. i just got back to doing my bachelors (had dropped college earlier to get into my own business back in india which i had to leave behind because we are in the process of shifting) so i only study for now. or try to anyway. :)

10:30 am. i need to go to the bank but it is raining hard and all i have is a bike to move around on. today i don't feel like getting wet so i am just killing time while i should be studying. seems like that proved to be a potentially drastic decision :rolleyes:

Yes I saw the game and omg I thought we were gunno lose majorly, but ooh yeah one point higher! Now were tied for 1st with the giants:)

lol FINALLY after 2.5 weeks my bike is completly done:) and they called the house on it today 20 minutes after my mom left:( so now I have to wait till tomorrow after school! And the lbs is like 20+ miles away in Dallas. Haha then I guess lbs doesnt deserve the L in it:p
