Will it suck balls?
Will Charlize Theron be invited back to the Oscars, or is it downhill from here?
Is anybody here a big enough Sci-Fi/Anime nerd to know what the hell it is I'm going on about? :p

charlize theron

film looks good, but I'm skeptical of animation --to--> live action adaptation, usually doesn't work

did I mention charlize theron

The trailer looks pretty slick, but maybe a little too video-game. She does get to wear some cool costumes. Big improvement over the coveralls and coal dust she wore most of the time in North Country – which was probably her best hope for an Oscar nod this year, since Oscar loves semi-true, victim-of-mean-corporation stories.

Charlize Theron is too fat-faced to play the part. They should've picked someone who looks like Lara Flynn Boyle.

I like Aeon Flux. I like Charlize Theron. But I'm comic book genre'd out. Pass.

Anyone remember Tomb Raider, the movie?

Hate to admit it,but Jolie would have been perfect physically. Too bad she mussed up her rep w/Lara Croft.

I think it will be good, if they stick to theoriginal source material and have a good script. Most sci-fi/horror movies are simply commercials for digital effects studios, then the studios wonder why everyone hates them.

The script, cast and acting all look pretty good. the director's not shabby, either. I just hope I can get past casting...

Same difference. Plunder-o-comic book/anime/video game universe. Saturate it with CG effects. Neglect plot, character, and setting (I miss the real world).

Mainstream film needs a realism renaissance.

Miami Vice was a good show. ;) But yeah, that's another creative genre that's been sucked down to the marrow.

I'll probably watch it, but the previews thus far don't give me that Aeon Flux vibe....

Hey, that reminds me, where's my A-Team movie?

My curiosity about this movie went up a notch after I looked up director Karyn Kusama (she did Girlfight). I also look forward to seeing Frances McDormand in a supporting role.

O.K. Saw it today and.............It sucked. No, it tried not to, really it did. But the one scene when the Police follow Aeon into a crowded subway station, even after I talked to the screen ala Mystery Science Theater 3000, yelling : "don't do it man", despite every iota of common sense telling my brain that it was stupid as hell...The Police open fire on the subway, shooting everyone except Aeon. Brilliant. Take Barbarella, and lose the cool soundtrack, the tounge in cheek humour, and the sexy bits with Jane Fonda, and you have Aeon Flux. Damn $6.50 gone forever.

I saw the shows on MTV before it was "Empty TV" and went to see the movie last night. I thought the movie was pretty good, but there is just too much stuff that happened on the show to fit into one two hour movie. That said... Charlize did a good job as Aeon and it was pretty entertaining. My brother knew nothing about Aeon Flux and he loved it BTW.

karyn kusama is directing this?!?!?!? SWEET

she is from my city, St. Louis my friend/coworker at a previous job went to highschool with Karyn (lol, with about 500 other students, but it sounds like she actually knew her ;) )

Girlfight was awesome! I own the DVD.

I like Michelle Rodriguez also (although she tends to overact, with the "tough girl" routine, hopefully she'll tone it down as she gets older).

That sums it up pretty well. Bad movie… maybe not quite as bad as Doom, but down there at the bottom. A couple positive points... the production design showed imagination (it’s set 400 years in the future – so it’s got a sci-fi look) and the costumes are pretty hot – the future is supposed to be so Orwellian but then you have all these great looking young women in skin-tight outfits.

Still, it’s a bad movie – and there are several good ones in theaters now: Pride & Prejudice, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and the Harry Potter movie – so you really don’t need to see this.

Sorry, Zig.
Put $12.00 in a jar labled 'for Serotta' and get over it.
Trust me. Wait for the DVD, or the legalization of marijuana, 'cuz this film is no 'Girlfight' my friend. CAVEAT EMPTOR.
With that said, it will probably make a decent DVD, for the eye candy. With the sound turned off, and some good music, it would be a cool backdrop for the living room.

I like what Paramount (they released Aeon Flux) had to say about the low opening weekend box office: “at the high end of low expectations” –

Not to mention that it’s getting terrible press.

That was informative. A guy 'over the wall' has an aeon flux poster in his cube, which I happened to notice and think "Mmm... Charlize.... What movie is this?"

now I know.
