Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Vanilla Porn

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Ok, either this works or it doesn't. I'm a brain doaner when it comes to posting photos, so here's a link to my yahoo stuff. If it actually works, I'll be amazed. If anyone wants to thumbnail these, go for it. Disclaimer: photos were taken after 2 Fat Tires, 1 Samuel Smith's Old Brewery Pale Ale, 1 Chimay (duh), and a Duvel. I know there's only 50 photos, but I'm just trying to get something posted. Btw, lighting and all that makes the frame look black. It's really dark metallic gray and the downtube panel is the black section.

I love all the fine details. the blacker than blackness, and the shinier than shininess of that thing. It's simply amazing. I especially love the detail around the chainstays/track forks. I don't quite get the handlebar stem thing.
That thing is one serious bit of bike porn, but I'm afraid if I owned it I'd never be able to ride it. not so much because I'd be afraid to hurt it as because I wouldn't be able to stop fondling it long enough to get on and rride.
No I think it's better for everyone that I never own a bike like that...
or that's what I keep telling myself.

Let's hope you don't have to change stem heights/angles/bars/etc. in the future. :o
Looking at these pics are going to take a very, very long time to digest. I feel like I'm studying a painting that has ten different levels of interpretation.
Congrats, and amazing.
holy crap i got a *****

Sorry for some crappy pics and lighting. I just propped it up and started taking pics. I'll post some more pics in better lighting. I've got friend a who does great digital stuff and he can put up some decent photos.
Yeah, it's a one piece bar stem combo. Sacha said the detachable face 31.8/carbon bar, lugged stem, etc would almost be impossible to pull off, so he came up with this. It's a NJS Nitto track bar mated to a custom Vanilla stem with a custom Vanilla lug. Sacha "smoothed" out the lug on the bars and carved the lug on the stem part. Bars went to chromers for the stem portion then the bars got painted the frame color. Somehow I'm gonna get decent photos of the bars to show they match the frame color.
I hope my buddy can get some respectable photos of this bike. The dark metallic gray, polished lugs, black panels look unreal in person. 'Scuse me while I go clean my shorts again. I'm still in shock from finally having it...

Where's the basket?
TLC should base a show around Vanilla. That bike has incredible aesthetics.

Ah ok. I think I've seen the one-piece lugged style before, but I can't remember where. It was probably on fixedgeargallery, though.
I saw this thread last night but I waited till this morning to fully enjoy them.
But 59 photos only? You remember I requested 100 at least right? ;)
Stunning bike. While the one piece stem/bar combo is great, what takes the cake for me is the seatstay bridge. So clean, minimal but classic rather than modern.
Ride that one daily, ride that one hard.
I'm off work Thurs-Sun this week. Will get some daytime photos then and put her through her paces then.
that seatstay bridge reminds me of something you'd buy at Williams Sonoma. that's a complement. i love that store.

excessively baroque.
Well, it would have been "baroque" if he hadn't "fixed" it.

I don't mean to be a nitpicker (it is undeniably a f$%&ing gorgeous bike), but I noticed that the spokes on the front hub are lace heads in. Doesn't a heads out radial lacing put less stress on the shoulders of the spokes?

Stunning bike! I like the way that the bar/stem and seatpost lug nicely echo each other. Polished stainless script and panel borders? Super cool. Inspirational and humbling at the same time.
Brent! Thanks for your help w/ the cogs and switching out the hubs for the SLRs. For the record, my cogs are one dull silver back and one is copper backed. With the chain on, you'd need a magnifying glass and a penlight to see the cog back. Damn near invisible and certainly no worries to me. One thing on the hubs though...What's with the ugly a$$ orange bearing seals???? Anychance of some black ones?
Chimay - did Sacha take any "studio" shots for his site? Will they appear at any time perchance?
absntr...I have no idea, didn't ask.

UNBELIEVABLE. I thought his site showed most of his "good" work.
Lugged carbon post, Vanilla bridge, raised chrome lettering, one piece bar. THAT is a showpiece.

Call me gauche, but how much (ballpark) would a frame like that cost?
