Jakey in and out sucks

Velocity, my friend. Right up until this point, I was really thinking you were a squared away kind of guy. I really liked you and was thinking we could be, you know, buds.

With this one post, you have blown any goodwill and credibility you have ever had with me.

In 'n' Out is like God's gift to cholesterol. The chow, the ambiance, the t-shirts, everything about the place is great.

Burgerville burgers taste like they were warmed up under somebody's armpit. That being said, nothing is better than the Walla-Walla sweet, the sweet potato fries or the seasonal shakes.

That's it - Velocity is hereby out. Of what, I don't know....

In N' Out does not suck. It is, IMHO, the best fast food chain burger on the planet. People here in the NW haven't, for the most part, been inroduced to it. Burgerville is fine but it isn't close. Dick's in Seattle was a HUGE disappointment.

55/Rad

LOL, Someone told you that Dick's was good? It's a place for kids to hang out and get burgers cheap. I agree with you about the IN-N-OUT, best burger and fries I've ever had.

Yeah Velocity, the Executive Council will be meeting for a member review on that one...for me, I say Tommy's (http://www.originaltommys.com/) in the LA area.

Mmmmmm, Tommy's...

55/Rad
11-18-05, 02:22 PM
Tommy's is GREAT - but I never saw it as a real chain - individually owned and ripping each other off. You know, Tommy's, Tomy's, Tommies, Timmy's etc. There was several real "Tommy's" though - did you know there used to be one here in Portland? On Burnside in the NW near PGE Park.

For you LA and Kauai people - there is always The Shack. Now there is a burger.

For the L.A. crowd... how about FatBurger. Westwood's finest back in the day.

For you San Diego people... Alberto's, Hilbertos, Alberto's, Adalberto's, Royberto's...

Mag - That will be fine. I will be there then.

Jakey - Seriously dude, just follow the pic on the first page. Seems like you are coming from SW somewhere. Go 5 to 205N. 10th st. exit. Turn right on 10th and left on 8th Ct. It may be best to park in the McMenamin's lot that you will see right off of 10th. It is seriously 2 blocks off the freeway. Can't miss. Internet maps are weird in this part of town. You seriously cannot get to my house using any online maps. Very strange.

Looking forward to seeing you all.

Dino, where is this "old bridge" road you're talking 'bout?...McLaughlin/hwy99?

Jakey, try this one:
Close in map (http://www.google.com/maps?q=2120+8th+Ct,+west+linn,+or&spn=0.021003,0.056425&iwloc=A&hl=en). You can skew it (hold down left click and then move in windows) and zoom in and out. Just look for the CHEVRON station off the exit and you're pretty much there.

DinoShepherd
11-18-05, 09:56 PM
Ben - Yeah, the old West Linn / Oregon City bridge. The one that joins 43 and 99. It goes right into old Oregon City.

If we are all feeling brave, I'll take you all across the Lake Oswego rail bridge. All steel, no guardrail, not a legal crossing, open to trains...

I remember you guys talking about that one, with pics and all. It looked like one of those videos you see on the Internet that has a really bad ending...

DinoShepherd
11-18-05, 10:03 PM
Yeah, that's the one. Although I never took pics when I rode over. Another guy had some pics from the Gladstone side. I need to bring my digital when I do it again. I was on my MTB, a road bike would be even harier.

What part of PDX are you in?

Cool... I'm pretty sure I know where it is. I'll be riding the rain bike...cause the other one is dirty...and well...it will be cold, and all my ocp approved riding gear for that bike is for warm weather. lol I grew up near Lewis and Clark.... but I'll be coming from Salem.

Dino's Saturday journal:

0700 - too early. stay in bed
0715 - too early. stay in bed
0730 - I wonder where all my cold weather gear is. Better stay in bed.
0735 - I wonder what's for breakfast. Better stay in bed.
0740 - Stumble to kitchen. Fire up eggs. 42 degrees?! Better go back to bed.
0745 - I wonder if my bike is ready to go. Get dressed.
0750 - Leave house. Clear, clear, clear skies. Take off one jacket.
0751 - Go down hill. Find all the fog. Freeze various body parts off.
0800 - Arrive at coffee shop. Nobody here. Not surprised.
0801 - Order coffee. Relax with the sports section.
0810 - Still relaxing. Still nobody. Consider going back to bed.
0810 - Formulaben rides up. Well that's one, I thought.
0811 - Formulaben tells me everyone is in the back and where the heck am I?
0812 - HUGE CROWD! I am totally blown away. We had a total of 9.
0830 - Introductions and rattle down the road.
0945 - 55 takes us on detour to visit his frame. Painter is decisively and artist in every sense of the word. The shop is absolute porn for the frame wh@re. There actually is a tet. And it may actually be done someday. Someday.
1015 - Leave shop. Actually we pry 55, Jakey and Formula away... I can't figure out how to get back on path. A small uproar and multiple u-turns ensues. We make it back somehow.
1030 - Cross Steel to the West Side. Decision time. Go home or coffee. We decide on coffee. I get us lost again, but luckily nobody notices.
1035 - Starbucks on 10th and Glisan. Its all good.
1100 - Everybody finally gets done with the bathroom. Another small mutiny as everybody complains about my tendency to throw my bike in front of cars. Sanity and leadership is questioned yet again.
1120 - Hit small section of gravel in south waterfront area again. 55 complains again.
1140 - Cemetary Hill. I love this climb.
1141 - Jakey flats. We all stop and stare.
1200 - Top of the hill. Regroup. Nobody gets lost. "Just keep heading up. It all goes to the same place."
1215 - Down Terwilliger. Almost lost a couple. Ooops. Sorry guys.
1300 - Back home. Safe and sound.
1330 - Senor taco for chicken burrito.
1400 - Shower and nap.

Humbly submitted,

Ah yes, a good time for all - even for the complainer.

And the best part for me....

8 people actually saw the Tete and can now confirm it's existence. They even got to meet the painter. How they were able to keep calm and cival - I don't know. But he did show us a sample of his handywork - a stunning Vanilla.

A couple people even understood why. My my.

Nice post, Dino...for the first few lines you appeared to be describing my morning down to the minute (exception: when hubby brought me my coffee :) I asked for a temperature check...it was 23 degrees).
My mind just couldn't get past loading everything up, driving the 20 minutes to the meeting point, layering up, and making the bones move in sub-freezing temps. I put my head back on the pillow and woke up at 9 to cold coffee...

So, thanks for the ride report. Sounds like fun - I'll consider it my imaginary ride for the day!

Mere hearsay and rumor until photos are posted!

Did no one have a digital camera on the ride? Honestly, now, people. I thought you were BikeForum.net posters and understood the rules of a group ride!

I wanted to say thanks for putting on the ride Dino, and it was great to meet everyone. I hope that you all organize another one soon. That was one of the more interesting group rides I have been on considering the course (more dirt trails than most), at which times I realized why Dino was on a mountain bike. I had a blast and I am now going to have to put one together over here in SE Vancouver if anyone is willing to drive that far.

The Warriors are a solid team in the Pacific division and so are the Clippers .

I'm laying 2.5 pts. on the Warriors at home (coming off a tough loss to the Clips) over the Nets tomorrow (x-country flight from NJ- come on jet lag!)night and the Spurs should bury the Kings in Sac at -5 pts.

I reveled in great drunken glee at a sports book the other day wearing my dilapitated Clippers hat (threw it against the wall to many times in the past) while they were busy schooling the $#*& Lakers :D.

It's been a long time coming. The Faker's "matador" defense in the paint is beyond horrible.

Here's the typical Laker stats on a losing effort these days, but Raper Boy gets to be the star of course. Think he misses Shaq now?

Tonight loss to the Bulls  :
L. Odom f 6 pts.
K. Bryant g 43 pts.(!)
C. Mihm f/c 13 pts.
