I was just doing some right hand exercises on my bass while I was navigating through some threads on here with my left hand. I remember seeing a few other bassists on here and now I want to know how many of us there are.
My basses and amps are the only things I've spent more money on than my bikes. Other than that, I'm not sure the they have anything in common. Maybe my sense of rhythm keeps my cadence steady.
Anyway, this is "The Lounge," so add your name to the list and let all the non-bassists realize how cool you are.
And I guess I have to do this:
Fender Jazz Bass (Marcus Miller edition) through an SWR Redhead combo.

;)
My son plays Bass. Started out on a 4 string Jackson that Grandma & Grandpa bought him.
High school graduation I bought him a 5 string Jackson. Last spring he bought himself a Fender Jazz Bass.
The bass is the one thing he has stuck with and plays 24/7. Heres a few pics.
The first in my BOY on halloween the 2nd one is from another gig.
[edit] Hes gonna kill me if he sees these.

The big baby wouldn't shave his legs. He wore fishnet stockings with hairy a55 legs.
2 guys almost offered to buy him a drink. You know guys, they stated at the bottom working their way up. When they finally noticed he was a guy. I can't believe he wore a such a short dress.

It might be women's clothing, but I don't consider it drag. Here are me and my guys giving it what we got

I dig the (holy) long johns lol. Dig the feather, too :)
midge, my gf (petite and very feminine) decided to dress in drag for Halloween last year, and almost had a guy pick a fight with her, because she got too close to him at a table. He glared at her, she didn't budge, and then he exclaimed "OH! You're a girl!".
Ahh... drag stories.
Jack did win $100 for his costume. $50 cash and $50 bar tab. He was happy :)
I like the feather too!

My bass setup - Fender Precision bass with flatwound strings thru an Ampeg B15 amp.
My bike setup - '97 Giant Rincon MTB converted to singlespeed 42 x 18.
It's true -- bass players get no respect. However, as the pix in this thread show, we do know how to get down (in style!).

I've been playing since febuary 21st 1987, around 4:15pm. Studied music in college (double-bass, 2 years classic, 1 jazz)). I currently use an old 5 string fretless F bass (http://www.fbass.com/) with Eden amp (WT300) and cabinet. These things start at 3400$ USD and I paid 1300$ CAD for mine in the late 80's (used). :D I have a band, mostly for fun. Some of the thing we play: King Crimson, Rush, Tribal Tech, Screaming Headless Torsos and some of our own stuff.

Me: 1970's Fender mutt--blond Presicion body with maple Jazz neck. Used to have a Rickenbacker; nice easy playing neck but terrible sound through my Polytone Minibrute amp. I like to hear the bass throb, not clank.

My DP Custom 4 string. It's a shame I haven't played it much in the last year. Been too busy cycling.

Hey all... I just got out of playing in bands and pursuing music as a career after about 14 years of trying.
Here's my gear that I'm keeping:
Geddy Lee 'Franken Jazz' with a Wenge Warmoth neck - favorite
Yamaha BB2000 - '80's neck-through...phattest bass I've ever played.
Sansamp RBI
Carvin 1500w power amp
BBE 262 Sonic Max
DBX 160a compressor
LDS 800W 1x12 cab.
Stuff I'm selling...(not really spam, but PM me if interested)
Bergantino NV610 - best big cabinet I've ever owned...kills SWR, Ampeg, Mesa, Trace, et. al., and only 90 lbs.
Carvin BB76P - 6 string with Piezo bridge...just never got used to the 6.
Music Man Stingray - 4 banger, black. Nice bass.
Warwick Dolphin Pro 2 - '92 Japanese made production run...before Warwick changed up its manufacturing. Just a really fun bass to bang around on. Retro'd with 18V EMG's.
...stylistically...P-Nut and Flea learned everything they know from me. :)
...yeah, I miss playing live, but I began to realize what a crappy father I'd become and opted to change my ways for the sake of my sanity and the growth of my son.
I have to add my name to the biking bass players list. Only been playing for about a year and a half. I love it.
My current setup:
Ibanez SR500BM
Hartke 2500
Ampeg BSE115T
relative newbie to bass here as well but my son & I have been playing a bit:
Roscoe 5 string
Marcus Miller 4 string
Warwick 5 string
cheap peavey amp

wow ! lots of nice guitars on here !
I used to play bass in a HS band and it was awesome.
Our band stayed together for a few years after that and then it was all over =(
I still have some gear @ home... pearl drum set, cheepy ephipone 4string bass, gallien-krueger head and fender dual 15" cabinet... jackson guitar with FR tremolo and a create 120watt head with a no brand 4x10 half-stack cabinet for it...
Then I've got a smaller 100 wat crate combo amp for the microphone setup with a nice stand =)
My best buddy still comes around and we jam once a while but thats about it =(
