Can you use standard 700 x 20/23C inner tubes on a 700 X 35C tire. My LBS says yes. I didn't think that they could inflate that much without exploding. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm sure that it would work in a pinch. If you inflate a tube without the tire it will expand to much larger than is needed to fill 35mm tire. If it was my bike, however, I'd look for a tube that's the right size.

Yes! I have been doing it for a while with absolutely no problems at all.

I did. I never had problems when I used a smaller tube instead.

Wow! Guess I'm done buying tubes in different sizes, if I can use the same ones on my racer as on my commuter - excellent tip!

I run 23 c tubes on my cross bike with 35 c tires, no problem at all.

I've found using a smaller tube not to be such a big deal, putting a larger in tube in a smaller tire allways seemed to cause problems.
