Commuting - It's that time of year.

Until today the fall temperatures have been very mild so that I could commute without hauling a lot of extra clothes for changing weather conditions AND I've been able to wear shorts and T-shirt at work.
But no more. :crash:

Starting tomorrow morning I'll need bibs, leg warmers or tights, base layer, maybe a l/s jersey, arm warmers, something to keep my ears and head warm, jacket, and heavy gloves.
For the ride home I'll have to bring knee warmers, vest, s/s jersey (only if I wear a l/s jersey in the morning), and lighter weight gloves.
I'll have to pack jeans instead of shorts and a l/s shirt instead of a s/s shirt. Plus lunch! :eek:
Where am I gonna put all that stuff and who's gonna help me haul it up the hills. :o

Now I remember what it was like last fall/winter. :p

I was to going to say the same thing.

I'm in VA, if his weather's anything like mine there's going to be a major cold front moving through shortly. Right now it's comfortable outside but very windy. Supposedly by tonight it'll be dropping into the 20s or something.

Atlanta Thursday forecast calls for decently cool temps in the 30s during commute time. I've been riding this week in the teens and 20s F with one mid-weight layer and light gloves, but I also only have 5 miles on my commute.

for me "that time of year" came when the drizzling stopped, and THE Rain started... ...it's actually been dry these past few days, which means fog in the morning and temps in the 30s and 40s :eek: :D :D

i don't mind the cold - -but it's annoying when it's 30 going to work, and 65-70 in the afternoon.

so i have to stuff all my "warm gear" into my rack pack, which makes it harder to do errands and groceries. one day a week i bring my grocery pannier to bring home all my square lunch tupperwares i bring in.

It's been in the 60s and 70s for the past few weeks, but tomorrow the picture changes.

Thursday's low = 28F (-2C). :eek:

Afternoon highs will be mid-50s (12C). That's why I need all the clothes. Cold mornings, cool afternoons. :o

It's hit or miss at Marshalls. You can try Ross and TJ Maxx, too. If you can find it, it's usually really cheap, usually $8-10 for ls shirts.

I've got a pair of the Lake Winter MTB shoes that rock in the winter.

man, I'm seriously loving this dry spell :D Did you catch any of that frost yesterday? I was on springwater corridor going towards milwaukie, and everything seemed to get colder... brr.

I threw on my wool socks today, but my toes still got cold :\ imma get some toe booties!!

MUCH AGREED! I have been praying for cold aftrnoons becasue I know the mornings are gonna be cold and I'd rather wear it all home then pack it all home on my back... but it's been 40 in the mornings and 70 in the afternoons... some f-ed up logistics to deal with if you ask me.

COOLLD up here in the NY area today. Then again, its no biggie. Just a coupla days to adjust.

Atlanta is no Minnesota, but it's not Florida, either.

I carry an extra something along in case I have a flat or mechanical breakdown (which almost never happens.) If I'm riding along in sub-freezing temps and work up a good sweat, the last thing I want is to break down and not have a dry jacket to put on.

Came to work this morning... MOON was shining bright (not that one!) Clear skies...
