What do I (a newbie) need? A helmet - duh. Do I really need a full-face? A BMX helmet? Hands - full fingers? I've got leather cut-offs. Shin+knee and arm+elbow? What should bne the priority?

Thank you.

Hi mEht,

Although I always wear a helmet (and feel nekkid w/o said) the most valuable safety equipment for urban assault is to keep your head out (of your...)

If you cycle aware, you'll RAREly get in to trouble. Not NEVER, but RAREly. I've _ridden_ hard for around 20 years or so, and I've only used my bike helmet once. I've had a number of crashes (at speed) but only once did I need a helmet.

Situational awareness can literally save your life. The Urban Assault angle isn't such a bad idea...ride as if everyone is trying to kill you. If you ride as this is the case, the nice drivers will make you happy, and the non-nice ones won't surprise you.

Good luck,
tt

P.S. Oh, and gloves are nice if you have to use your hands. Plus, they keep your hands warm. Glasses are also a must, especially at speed.
