Just read about this in Time Out Chicago...
Sunday December 18th @ noon. Meet at Twisted Spoke (501 N Ogden Ave, 312 666 1500.) Free. Don your Santa cap and beard, take a nip (or a few hundred) of some grog, and get ready to pedal through the streets of downtown Chicago in the wildest bicycle party of the winter. The folks who participate in this raucous roll are a rowdy bunch, so expect a heckuva lot of naughty behaviour. Afterall, the ride takes place a full week before Christmas, so Santa has plenty of time to recover from his wicked hangover.
We should all do this. I mean..it has been proven that we love drinking and riding, so...
that sounds choice!
DCC you all better go and rock that *****, can someone give jeff a ride on their handlebars? ;)

Best thing about winter riding is that you can have alcohol in your bag and no matter when you drink it it will be icey cold. YUM.
let us not forget the reason for the season

There's been *way* too much drinking and riding as of late. We need more riding. Get your lazy butts down to the southside once and a while. Pretty, open roads, the sweet scent of Salome and her cheese wafting through the air...
That being said, I'll probably do this 'cause it's two blocks from my house. Let me know if you guys want to meet up there.

teabagggz™—putting sobriety back into cycling.
I'm with you... monday night I did my olde lakepath route—hollywood–prompoint–hollywood(30miles)—without booze. riding for longer distances without stopping you kinda get over wetness/cold real quickly. and when you're done, THEN treat your self to a beer or two.
and when you're done, THEN treat your self to a beer or two.
agreed. i have nothing against hanging out but perhaps we should either separate the two or make it a reward after a few hours, yes hours, of riding.

Okay...keep everyone posted on how long they have to ride before they're allowed a drink...
I just want to clarify this whole thing, I *almost* never drink while I am riding. Crit Mass? maybe. At a stoplight sure. At the bar I biked to, more than likely. But while actually biking, that is sort of rare (though not unheard of). I don't have any bosses or braze-ons, ergo I have no water bottle holders, so it is kind of a pain in the ass to hold the bottle while riding.

**** you aaron
I actually don't drink while riding too often, either.
I have been know to make frequent stops for drinking when out on a ride... Drink, then start riding again.
it's definitely better logistically.. the point is that you need to be somewhat inebriated to be riding your bike. especially when you're riding in a group.
