What are the adverse affects of using Non Ceramic Brake Pads (Rim Wrangler 2) on Ceramic Rims (CrossMax)?
Thanks.

Less efficient braking, especialy in wet conditions. The ceramic specific pads are a little more abrasive than normal, because the ceramic coating is tougher to scratch than aluminum.

So it will cause the pads to wear faster, but won't hurt the rim?

Yes. To clarify, non-ceramic pads will get shread to dust VERY quickly on ceramic rims. At least that has been my experience with Mavic ceramic rims and Shimano Dura Ace pads (older 8 speed version).

Sorry, I like the description of "8 speed brake pads." But that said, I know what you mean, and it makes sense. It just still sounds funny.
For comparison, I have "6 speed 105 brakes (http://www.unc.edu/~cupery/pics/2005/red_bike/IMG_4516--105_front_brake.jpg)" (with the original pads) on my road bike. They work great with my 9-speed drivetrain :D
In my experience, they tend to squeel a lot also.
I have used the kool stop salmon regular pads fine on my crossmax sl's (recently sold).
I could not get the black rim wranglers to stop squeeling. Just get the green ones man! :)
