for me, the difference between commuting and winter commuting is when one of the following is true:

- road in front of my house is "white";
- ice forms in my water bottle;

and today, both were true! and with some nice sun too...

good season to all!! :)

and you, what makes your winter season start?

This morning, -6C, *some* patches of snow where cars haven't sublimated it.

I know it's winter season start because all the coworkers who saw me thought I was nuts. Yet some of them have done cross country skiing in worse weather. :)

Oh, and I also know it's season start because I feel I should not be using slick tires anymore. :)

- winter for me is when the gopher turtles emerge from their holes seeking warmth on the path, creating interest road obstacles (most are bigger than a football)...

(i joked with a buddy that i was going to start carrying a croquet mallet in order to play 'Gopher Turtle Polo'; in reality, i could never whack an octogenarian with a wood hammer)

My bottle is already forming ice. It froze yesterday morning.

I think for me winter occurs when the temperatures are consistently cold and snow occurs frequently. January for the temps and Feb for the snow.

When it squeezes below 32F in the early morning - seriously though I've seen 28F. This morning was a 59F, lowest this year so far is 45F.

(I accidentially jumped to this forum and thought I'd say 'hi' before leaving)
