if Poguemahone is around, maybe you can answer this. or anyone else...
i have a mid 70s jeunet (i'm pretty sure) that i have been riding as a single speed and, recently, fixed. the chainline is passable with the acs freewheel, but worse with the dura ace cog. part of it is the hub and i'm saving my pennies to build a new rear wheel, but i definitely want to do something about the spindle.
the bottom bracket is a nice french TA that's in great shape. it has a 117.5 spindle on it right now. my question is, do i have to buy the $50 TA-brand 111 spindle? or can i put any spindle in this BB? i'm running bulletproof cranks right now and plan to upgrade them sometime next year, so it would be nice to use a normal, $10-$20 107-ish mm spindle.
doing some research, i saw something like a "3-series" spindle fits french BBs... anyone know?
