Commuting - HHCMF: Agree on shirts to be ordered.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm going to be out of town next week, so on the Monday after thanksgiving I'd like you guys to have settled on the shirt design.

Check out the HHCMF slogan poll, I posted all the approximate prices there.

[edit] oops, submitted too early. Attached is my initial guess at a design.

Feel free to offer others, but there better be some consensus (nothing like that BikeForums.net shirts debate that raged forever without conclusion).

Prices are HIGHER if we have stuff on more than one side of the shirt. If you're OK with that, we can put something on the front and back or left and right arms or whatever.

t-shirts / sweat shirts / jackets are pretty much anything alertshirt.com has to offer. So keep that in mind if you suggest a different design, it better go easy on all shirts. The design is a single color, the reflective material they use.

Please post here how many of what you plan on ordering (I won't ask for money yet, but I want to have a good idea what kind of numbers we're talking about). Please don't post if you aren't serious, I'm talking money-in-hand serious.

Thanks,
EJ

OK I copied the prices from the other thread:

OK here's the deal. Alertshirt said $2.50 extra for shirts and sweatshirts, $5 extra for jackets for ONE side. Double that for if we want something front and back. We can mix and match, but the minimum order is 24 items.

Here's a really really bad picture of what I have in mind. Any artists out there can feel free to improve it. Imagine it with the reflective printing instead of the black that I used (MS Paint didn't have "reflective" as a color!).

I decided to save money and just get something on the back. If the general consensus is we're ok spending some extra money we could put the HHCMF, BikeForums.net part on the front.

Oh and I forgot to mention there's a $35 one-time setup fee, so figure $1.50 extra per shirt.

OK for those not familiar with alertshirts, they make hi-vis stuff. www.alertshirt.com is there site. It's all great wicking poly stuff.

short sleeve shirts run $8 + $1.5 + $2.5 would be $12 apiece.
long sleeve shirts run $11 + $1.5 + $2.5 would be $15 apiece.
sweatshirts run $16 + $1.5 + $2.5 would be $20 apiece (the sweatshirts are nice, I've got one)

Figure add $6.50 to any jacket if you want a jacket.

These prices are somewhat tentative because since we don't have a final shirt design I can't get a final price. But they ought to be in the ballpark.

Good job Eggy. We'll know what the slogan is tomorrow. Design-wise, unless someone wants to take a crack at it, we can go w/ what you proposed. I'm good for a couple shirts, but I think we need to get some answers to questions like, if there's a one-time setup fee, is it good for t-shirts, long sleeves and jackets or just for t-shirts and can we get different color shirts and different color inks (yellow shirt/blue ink, blue shirt/white ink, etc.)

Also, are you gonna setup a paypal acct. to collect the dough?

I think just having a design on the back would be fine. Don't really want to pay more than I have to. I would take 1 short sleeve.

This is just me brainstorming (or farting)...

Count me in on two xl t-shirts. One short sleeve, one long sleeve.

Having one design on the back to lower cost, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... make since. Oh, and one more thing Minora, That sure is one nice fart.

I agree, that's a pleasant fart and includes a pyramid w/ an all seeing eye which'll make people think we're part of a secret society, which we are!

I like Mirona's idea also, partly because it looks a bit more comfy in the collar area. ;)

I'd be up for two t-shirts, whatever color and design you decide. They need not match my "kit".

I like it. Put me down for 1 lime s/s in XL.

I think there should be a bicycle somewhere in the design. This (http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=48074) could easily appear to be a motorcycle shirt to those that read it. Our hillybilly town is full of people with t-shirts like that with similar sayings but they are referring to motorycles.

I agree with Ranger. A bicyce on the design would be nice. Once you get out in the hinterlands of South Jersey it's all beards and leather.

Put me down for 1 SS XL and 1 LS XL.

mirona's design sold me :) if this is the 'jacket' you mean http://www.alertshirt.com/wiflli.html, then 1 ss shirt and 1 jacket please. both medium, both lime.

what's the story with shipping? did you add that? they don't even post prices for shipping to canada :(

if you're taking personal delivery and then distributing to individuals, we'd better all send you something nice for your trouble. want a tacky tourist shirt from my town?

I didn't get around to voting, but I do like the design shown in post 12 by mirona. I'd be interested in a short and longsleeved version. I'm a bit curious about how the payment issue is going to be dealt with.

That's 18. I'm good for up to 4 items, but that still leaves us 2 short. Anyone else want to get in?

I asked alertshirt.com and they do not do group purchases themselves. That means I'll be collecting money and placing a single order, then shipping everyone their shirts when I receive them.

I did forget about shipping charges. I'm not sure what alertshirt'll charge to ship to me, but once I'm confident I have enough people I'll get some firm numbers from them. It'll probably cost me around $4 to ship to each of you.

Once I have roughly enough items, I'll PM each of you to get your exact order and shipping info.

In case this wasn't clear enough, I believe you can get almost any item they make with our logo on it.

That means short or long sleeve tshirt in lime (that's day-glo neon yellow if you haven't seen a 'lime' alertshirt before) or orange, or the jackets (yes tokolosh!) in whatever colors they come in. Also sweat shirts in whatever colors they come in.

However the color of the PRINT must be constant. So that means they'll all be the 3M reflective printing, so I wouldn't recommend getting a white item.

I like mirona's post #12 design too. So that's what we'll go with. Mirona, if you could email me a large version of the graphic (without the shirt around it) so I can send it to alertshirt.com, that would be great.

OK!

I have PMed everyone in the thread who said they wanted a shirt. If you didn't get a PM from me, I don't have you down as wanting anything! Please PM me if you want to get in on this, I'll try to check this thread but just in case I miss your post.

Here are the four items people have requested so far.

Short sleeve tshirt = http://www.alertshirt.com/xhaletshirt1.html
Long sleeve tshirt = http://www.alertshirt.com/lonsleevmois.html
Sweat Shirt = http://www.alertshirt.com/crmwisw.html
Jacket = http://www.alertshirt.com/wiflli.html

FYI, this is a reminder, the tshirts run large. An "L" tshirt from alertshirts fits me like an "XL" regular cotton tshirt. And remember, these are poly, they don't shrink. I have one of the sweat shirts, it did NOT seem to run as large as the tshirts. I would assume the jackets probably also do not run large then. That is a guess though; I don't own any of their jackets.

Oh and I forgot, here's an update on the how I'm going to do it.

Once I have everyone's confirmed order, I'll get the final prices from AlertShirt.com. Then I'll contact you all and let you know the total. The total will include a share of the $35 setup fee, and a share of the shipping cost to ship the items to me.

What will NOT be included will be the shipping cost from me to you. For most of you, I think I'll be able to get away with the $3.85 Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope.

Then it'll be time for you to send me money. If you want to include a guess at the shipping, that's fine. If you want to wait until I have your item and can give you an exact shipping cost, that's fine too.

I'll wait a reasonable amount of time for the money. But, if I have all the money but one or two people's and I'm tired of waiting, I'll place the order and not include whoever hasn't paid. Sorry, but I don't want to keep everyone waiting forever.

PayPal is definitely the easiest way to give me your money. If you would prefer to mail me some form of money (check, money order, cash (not recommended, only USD accepted)) that is OK too but let me know it's in the mail (hmm, I guess you'd need to let me know anyway since you don't have my address at the moment ;)).

OK folks, status update. I just emailed alertshirt.com with a tentative order (still haven't got confirmation from 4 people, but I had 32 items so that's enough to get the final pricing). As soon as they respond, I'll let everyone know how much they'll owe and it'll be time to start mailing me your checks, credit cards, suitcases full of cash, gold bricks, etc.
