Well I completed (Survived) the 6 Gap Century Ride In N Georgia this past Sunday, It was a great turnout, they said they had over 800 riders. Well my time was no where near my Florida MS150 Average but I am very satisfied with the outcome. Total riding time 7hrs 55 min and Total was 9hrs 3 min. this ride has 10,000 feet of elevation change over 6 mountains. I have to say this was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, but all my training over the summer paid off. This was my personal goal for this Year, and I DID IT!!! :D :D :beer:

I was just looking at the web site (http://www.dahlonega.org/sixgapcentury/) for that one.

Good job! :thumbup:

Fantastic!!! - I know the roads up there extremely well - from riding them on a motorcycle - there are some long steep climbs on that route. I've set the 6 gaps as a goal for me in 2003. I've been thinking of bringing the bike up there to see if I could do one of the 6 gaps - Richard Russel parkway. How is you bike set up - triple ring?? What about the cassette - 12-23,25,27?

Again congratulations on finishing - I hope to be able to say the same a year from now.

A handful of seriously strong racer-types from here in the flatlands did the Six Gap last year and did quite well. One of them wrote a long report that sounded awesome.

Hello Pedelar;

I have a 2002 Jamis Quest and the reason I bought this years model was it came with the Triple. I knew I would be doing a lot of hills around here and I was sooo Glad I had it on this ride. It made the world of difference for me, I had so many comments from other riders wishing they had the gears because many of them were walking. Here is the jamis specs ( I don't know them by heart)
FREEWHEEL Shimano HG70, 9-speed, 12-23.
CRANKSET Shimano "105", 52/42/30,

Sounds like USPS/Roberto Heras strategy to me. :D

BTW: This ride is described as "strenuous". I don't do "training" or "strenuous". If I was 20 years younger I might. :)
