My wife is purchasing a recumbent. It is a 2002 Vision R40 with under seat steering, mercedes silver color, with a day bag and water bladder. The color is one of the custom colors that vision offers. She will not have the bike in time to ride this year, so she'll wait until next year. Thats fine with her.

She will probably not become a member here, but please welcome her as a new 'bent rider all the same and I'll be sure to pass it on to her.

Wife of I_H_M_B_F_M, welcome to the cycling fraternity!

I don't ride a recumbent, but as far as I'm concerned, anyone who is willing to ride deserves kudos, no matter what type of bike.

Congratulations on you commitment.

Zooming along through space, lying down, with the wind blowing through your hair; sure beats the heck out of house chores.

That is a fine machine you chose. I'm sure you will ride long and enjoy. Welcome to the recumbent revolution. Its a quiet relaxed revolution.:)

Hi I_H_M_B_F_M, can I call you "I" for short? Thanks. I am sure your wife will love the bike. I have had my Rans Rocket for a few weeks now, and I love it. I still ride my MTB, but riding a bent is so much more relaxing.

I've been an avid rider for more years than I care to relate but my wife would only ride with me on occasion and then it would only be for a very short time. A couple miles tops. She said her bike was just too uncomfortable to ride very far. Then she got a Rans Rocket and started riding all the time. It really seemed odd that she was finally riding with me and going 30 or 40 miles at a time! That only lasted a year or so though. Now the poor Rocket just sits there collecting dust. I think I'll start taking it out some if my Vision R-44 doesn't get too jealous. I guess you just have to have riding in your blood to stick with it as long as I have.

I've been riding recumbents since 1983 but I could never get my wife to do it. We've been riding a wedgie tandem for the same amount of time until last spring when I talked her into a DoubleVision recumbent tandem... she loves it! I hope your wife enjoys the recumbent world. Congratulations!

I just got my wife a BikeE Ct from Ebay she really enjoys it. Two days and two rides later it snowed... now we have to wait for spring or buy a trainer. Hmmm....
