Classic & Vintage - why are these campy hubs priced so high?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I think I have the front on one of my beater bikes.

Why so much?

They look a lot like the old Grand Sport large flange hubs I have on my Marinoni. The Grand Sport large flange hubs have round holes and the Record large flange hubs have more rectangular holes.

They are indeed rare. Tipo hubs were a cheaper alternative to the Record hubs. These are post Gran Sport, probably from the 60's. I would much rather have Record hubs but only heard about these 30 years ago, never seen. it is the uniqueness hat sets them apart. Tipo front hubs could be made to look loke this with an axle exchange, its the rear hub with the wider set flanges and the reverse threading for the lockring that cannot be faked.

The Nuovo Tipos (new type) were from the early 70s. I've NEVER seen a track pair, so I'd say they're RARE.

I have a spare set of these hus, mint unused. How do I tell if they are Grand Sport or Tipo?

tipo are all alloy one part bodies. Gran Sport had steel centers, and a smaller set of holes outside and between the larger piercings. Gran aport hubs with "open" C in the word Campagnolo cast into the release levers are also worth some dollars. Tipos in NOS with the box will garner interest, but probably only a tank or two of gas.

Oh Great, another deep pockets competitor, this is why sniping is good, another cannot reference what you are watching and or bidding on. Yes, there is someone looking over your shoulder.

ya. I changed my strategy. I pick something totally random and bid on it at the last second. dunno what i'm gonna get but i often win. got 45 pairs of extra large ladys' bloomers yesterday. And let's not forget the 21 left Sante shift levers...

Track Hubs?
the Tipo pista hubs were pretty unusual. The road hubs
were fairly common.
