Hello everybody. I need advice on a Fuji Odessa. I found one of these bikes for sale for $160, and i was wondering if this bike is worth buying to upgrade later with better/lighter components? Is the frame good quality? I mostly use my bike to commute to work and classes with the occasional trail ride. Thanks in advance.

From what I can find about this bike by punching it in a search engine,I would say its not worth upgrading. The 2002 model is a cromoly main triangle which is good. But the stays are high tensile steel, which is heavy. The 2003 model is an aluminum frame and the bike still weighs 30 lb.Upgrade out the wazzoo and you are still going to have a heavy bike.It still might make a good, cheap bike to putter around on though. My 1993 hybrid weighs 30 lb and I put 10,000 miles on it.

Do you think this bike is worth the $160? My last bike was an old rockhopper. Thanks for your response

I think it was listed at msrp $250.Is it the 2002? I think if I had a choice I'd take the cromoly model over the aluminum on a lowend bike. For $160 I don't think you could go wrong.
