Performance has Michelin Axial SuperComp road tires at half price. Anybody have any experience with these tires? They appear to be made exclusively for Performance.

I've had one on the rear wheel this summer with no problems in about 1200km. It's the kevlar bead model, 23mm. I got a good deal on three of them from Performance.

The ad in the catalogue doesn't mention a kevlar bead, it does say '127 tpi casing with carbon fibers for lightweight strength'. Never heard that before, but at $22.49 I'm intrigued.

I got mine last year, but didn't need to install one until early this year, so it could be a different deal by now.

Syd,
Here's what people on www.roadbikereview.com had to say about these tires. They didn't speak to favorably about them.

I rode a pair through the winter and into spring last year. They were tough and wore well, had a good ride and low rolling resistance. I didn't ride them in the rain, but I'm guessing they wouldn't be great on wet pavement ('cause of the harder compound). Compared to Michelin APs, they aren't as supple, and don't have as good traction. And then there's that stinkin' green rubber.
My only real gripe (and it was my fault, not the tire's) is the store I got them at only carries 700x20s, which are narrower than I like to run. Consequently, when I got a second pair this summer, I ruined one after about a week when the sidewall got punctured by a rock (I think the narrow tires leave the sidewalls too exposed).
All in all, I think it's a good tire for ~$20.

There is a seller on eBay (staringatthesea), also check www.ital-tecno.com who sells GP3000 for $ 29 each. I don't know how he does it.

Guillermo, checked out that site and the prices are pretty good. Have you ever ordered from them? If so, what was your experience with them?

I haven't bought any tires from him yet. I found that deal after I had already done my tire shopping. I did buy a Prima Road Bar, and a San Marco Saddle. Shipping is just slightly higher, as he's in Canada, but products are A+.
