Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - had to sell my frame, should i convert this?

had to sell my track frame and fork in order to pay rent. So while i wait until i can afford a new frame, i was thinking of converting this to a fix. or should i make it a single speed so when i do get a track frame i won't have to change it again?

i know there are like a million "should i convert this blah blah blah" on his forum all the time. Just asking a for a few opinions since i know there are a good amount of people on here that know their stuff

The decision is up to you. If you think you want to, go for it. Should make a fine conversion.

it sure was. and no one wanted her. she is a really nice ride. i want to convert because the cassette is wearing out, and i don't have a track bike anymore, so i feel empty inside. it probably wouldn't be an issue to switch back and forth but the rear brake has internal mounting which is a pain to get back in there.

well, if you have all the parts it shouldn't take you more than an hour to convert it.
go for it.

looks like a nice old roadie. I'd keep it that way it is. it would never be a track bike anyway, but a conversion. my .02.

what would it take? 20 minutes to remove the shifters, wheels, and crank? another 10 to bolt on your fixed wheels and crank? what's the big deal? 30 minutes from gears t fixie. you don't even have to remove the rear brake. when you get yer new frame you'll need the parts anyway, so put it back how it is.

so thanks to sean at rapid transit for letting me sneak in during the closing minutes and putting the finishing touches on it, it came out pretty fresh. so if you see it in chicago don't steal it! ha!

Just recycle all those PBR cans and you'll be half way to a new frame.
