Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Anybody have any experience or exposure to a "retro-direct" drivetrain?
All the big hills in my new locale have me reconsidering fixedgear right now... well, not really.

Hit up the mechanics forum to see someone's retrodirect project. (search)
You do know it would be easier to use a 3-speed hub, right? If you look hard enough, I bet you could find a serviceable one at a thrift store.
Still, I guess that's kind of interesting.

One doesn't build a retrodirect bike for practical reasons. Only for fun, 'cos they'll never be be problem-free or effective. And I doubt you would go up those hills all that fast pedaling backwards. They sure look like fun, though.
