Triathlon - Aerobars

Has anyone used the Profile Design. Sbend Aerobars? I was looking at the Aerolite or S bend. The Airstryke are not favored due to the noisy armrest when not in use. Entry level Triathlete yet to compete. Looking to be able to train with them on my local rides but want to be able to change hand positions for hills and have read that this is a concern for some.

Are you putting these on a road bike ? I have the Airstryke on my road bike & don't find them to be noisy at all. The Flip -up is very convenient for hills.

I have Visiontech bars on my TRI bike. With the full TT setup, there aren't many hand positions (2), thats why the Airstryke work so well.

I would also stay away from the new S-bend bars if you are a newbie. You lose some stability, & they would be less comfortable. They are perfect for seasoned competetive racers though.

They are going on my Litespeed Arenburg. It is road geometry. I might even just get the Aerolite because they are more upright than the S bend. The review I read about the airstryke were from a rider of bumpy roads & I could visualise the racketing it could make with sprig loaded armrests. However the technology of them flipping up out of your way is ideal. How long have you been doing tri's.

I have airstrykes and they are really noisy. I am going with the carbon strykes next season.

I replaced Profile Design Flip Up Type with Profile Design Aerolite.
I bike aggressive long distances and use the Aero Bars a lot for sprinting and against strong headwind all day.
The flip ups did rattle a lot. I used rubber bands to put them flat. Next the flip up broke off. The pivot pin is 1/8 inch and the die cast aluminum flip bracket did not hold up. I am a strong 190 lb. guy and put a lot of weight and moment force on this bracket.

BTW, that LBS and Profile Design did NOT accept any warranty responsibility.
I changed to another LBS and bought the Aerolite. So far so good. Lots of adjustments are possible. There is room for hand placement around the Aerobars.
Aerolites are much more substantial and more expensive.

i have 'em and don't like 'em. they'll be coming off later this winter. the length of extension forward of the s-bend is too long for me. but my real problem is that they don't have any elbow pad width adjustment. i just don't care for the feel and set-up of 'em
