I'm wondering can a Gyro be used for a V-brake?

I know I'd have to go from 1 to 2 back to 1 cable, or mod a x type design at the brake.

My friend has a v brake with a gyro.

Can you take some pics & post them here please?

It would probably work better than a gyro/U brake combo.

Nah the gyro and the U work better I set both up mine and his, I'll see if i can get pics it might be a few days because, I'm going to south Jersey to pull my boat out of the water.

No, it does not. V-brakes require too much pull to work properly, although there are ways of getting around the problem.

Seems to me that if everything is adjusted properly, the V brake would work better. As long as there's no slack in the system. He's still wasting his time - he wants a gyro on the race frame.

Give it a rest. I ran a race frame for many years back in the day.

I'm not doing a gyro. I was just asking if it's possible. Geez!

Brian
11-23-05, 08:41 PM
You won't need a U brake stiffener with a V brake.

Prozakk
11-23-05, 09:01 PM
that was a v-brake stiffener

Brian
11-23-05, 09:09 PM
If that frame has flexy stays, why would you want to jump with it, or even race with it?

Prozakk
11-23-05, 09:13 PM
I just can't win with you guys, can I?

Brian
11-23-05, 09:16 PM
Does the honesty hurt?

Seriously. That stiffener is for flexy stays. Does your frame flex under braking?

Don't even have it yet. It's a X-gift....

Alloy bars and HD wheels? 45x16 gearing? By the way, your frame won't flex at all, you can skip the stiffener.

Prozakk
11-23-05, 09:30 PM
What's wrong with the bars? Gearing?

Brian
11-23-05, 09:56 PM
You got 6lbs of wheels. They're for jumping and will take a lot of abuse. Your bars won't hold up to much abuse at all. I hardly even see the little guys at the track running alloy bars.

44x16 used to be the standard BMX gearing. Now most bikes run a more compact setup. 45t is considered huge and unneccessary.

I've put in my 9 hours today, I'm off to go work at a bike shop for 3 hours.

Cheers.
