Advice is priceless. You learn something - but you take it in stride with other opinions. You sit down and think about what people have said and you come out a better person.

I nominate 55/Rad - my teacher in all that is cycling. Wrenching, riding, and attitude.

Thanks :)

I nominate Sydney , EURO, Divekrb and Ben cousins.

EURO

I counter-nominate 53-11, and he seems to have one of the best grasps of wheel building and wheel tech here.

There was that one guy who was around a while back - identifying pros from old photos - he had an encyclodeapic knowledge of bike racing. He was cool too.

While this thread may tend to minimize the contributions of those who don't get the most mentions, I'd second Danno as a very knowledgeable person who puts a lot of effort in his posts.

True.
I did put 'most helpful' - so it's quite subjective...
But a lot of threads are anyways :D

I'll +3 Danny boy - he's a VERY VERY experienced rider, who isn't full of himself - and takes the time to share his wealth...

I nominate myself... more for learning about life than cycling

(Although I do know a bit on that front also!)

55/Rad was the first name that came to mind for me. Rev.Chuck also deserves a very honorable mention.

Another vote for Danno. His posts usually provide more information that books on cycling that I have read. His "Winter Training" post was extremely helpful to me.

Don D. He went the way of Ben Cousins some time ago, never to be heard from again. :( Between him and Maj. Taylor, there was some serious cycling IQ.

I vote for Danno...

He helped me alot especially when I was starting out. I asked some stupid question about spinning circles and he gave me 3 long paragraphs with hints and tips. I learned alot and did what he said.

On another note he helped me on a number of physics problems :)

Also, he is a pretty cool guy and his car is hot :D

+10 for Danno :D :D

Danno has been a big help. Over on the Classic and Vintage board, T-Mar, Poguemahone, TheOtherGuy and number6 (I'd say in that order), are tremendously helpful. Lotek (a mod) and luker are really good too. T-Mar is a walking encyclopedia about older bikes. Through hundreds of posts, I have never seen him post wrong information. Don't know if this thread is for vanity, or some kind of recognition, but there are a lot of really great folks here who make for a great experience.

+1 Sydney, i still feel he needs to be acknowledged on these boards in a more noticable and permanent way... His memory must last and attention must always be brought to the circumstances of his death so that kind off thing might be more seldom in the future.

Without question... sydney.

The mechanics forum isn't near what it was a few weeks ago. With all due respect to eveyone posting info in there. Now, it seems like a bunch of guys blindly trying to pick there way through to a solution to something.

sydney delivered one liner simple, direct answers.

I actually thought to start a thread with this idea.
The reason for not starting a thread like this was the valuable help given by so many members of this forum. I am preparing for a 3000 mile fast across America tour. It is admitted that I am not prepared for such an effort. Countless individuals contributed to my effort and I would feel disloyal toward them if one individual gets singled out.
The group is what counts IMHO.

Well, you guys suck. No mention of Expatriate anywhere. Who are you going to turn to next time you need an off-topic, sarcastic response? Yeah, that's what I thought. Thanks for nothing. I hope you all get coal for Christmas. And not the Lump Of Coal beer, either. Real coal. Maybe you can burn it and warm those icy cold hearts of yours. Giving me the cold shoulder! That ought to teach you guys. Heck, I hope Santa drops a poo down your chimney. Wait, forget that. Not just poo, I hope he delivers a whole sleigh full of poo flinging monkeys to your houses. You'll all feel right at home with them, because that's all you ungrateful, whining losers are. A bunch of poo flinging monkeys. You suck. I hate you all. Y'all know I'm kidding, right?
