Mountain Biking - Ride Report for Thursday, November 24th, 2005 and Friday, Nov. 25th 2005.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

This will be a new thing for this forum, what we have here is a thread for posting ride reports. Each day fresh ride report thread will be posted. For today and tomorrow this will be the one for the ride reports, but starting Saturday, a fresh ride report thread will be posted. While pictures would be nice, they aren't required for this thread.

A suggestion for laying it out is:
1)Trail
2)Ride Time
3)Miles(Optional)
4)Weather
5)Trail Conditions
6)Short Summary

My ride:

1)Echo Hill
2)3 hours
3)Didn't keep track
4)Cold, mostly cloudy, with wind gusts from 5-20mph(Off of Weather report)
5)Slick and snow covered in parts, got muddy towards the end.
6)Headed out for a ride this morning by time I got to the trail head this morning and rolling it was 7 am. Got a realy good sense of how the Intense tires work in the slippery conditions, gripped very well, the occasional rear wheel slip due to ice coated roots, but didn't go down was able to ride it out each time. At the end of the ride the conditions changed from slick to greasy because of the mix of wet leaves, slush and mud. Called it a day when the pain in my left hand got unbearable(arthritus, having busted the left hand up 3 times in 5 years will do that to you.) Overall, it was a good ride.

For those who celebrate thanksgiving today, have a happy thanksgiving.

My son changed my plans and we rode street today. Weather was perfect sunny and about 60.Found a great wall ride and a really nice paved bank. Ride went well until I flatted about halfway through. The local collage was deserted so got on some good stuff there too.Had a really good day.

I hit the Jones Mill Mountain Bike Trail this afternoon as a preemptive strike against stuffing myself at dinner. It was sweet! I was already running late thanks to fiddling with my computer and aligning the new cleats on my winter shoes so I kept it kinda short. Did the whole loop, made some adjustments, then did the short loop in about an hour or so. Probably ~10 miles altogether, but I don't know the distance on the newly added longer loop yet and my comp's not working at the moment.:( It was nice and sunny with a light breeze around 55 degrees(F) or so. Awesome riding weather! Way too warm for the cold-weather jersey and winter shoes I wore. Worked up a good sweat, tho. Trail was in great shape, too. A little damp in places, but no puddles or anything. Just some soft soil here and there. The newer extension is still pretty mossy and whatnot, but getting packed down pretty well so far. Had to ride by myself, but this trail isn't nearly as technical as some of the others around here. Otherwise I might've been worried about not having backup. I wasn't bangin' off of trees this time thanks to my new tires, either. Good times!:D

1.) black diamond trail at hartshorne woods
2.) rougly 2 hours
3.) not a clue
4.) clear skys, around 25 degrees.
5.) a little wet, lots of leaves.
6.)i went out around mid-day. a whole lot of posers in the parking lot riding konas and specialized. they were trying to hop on this ledge(about 1 foot high) and they all fell excpt one. so yea i got on the trails and this is the first time i did this, a steady MIDDLE chainring climb for about half the way up. i was very proud of myself. i took the longer trail and was doing great. flowing, just bombing down the trails. it was a great ride.
