Do all the models in the Specialized Rockhopper series have the same frame? or do the frame vary based on price and purpose. i am taking about 2005 models.

Like, do the base level Rockhopper have the same frame as $1100 Rockhopper? one of my friends, a base rockhopper owner, thinks that they are different - interms of strength and quality (paint etc.). the paint on his rockhopper is comming off too quickly.

Any comments, suggestions, inputs would be highly appreciated. i apologize if this question is asked and answered previously.

happy thanksgiving!!!

They are the same frame, just the components are different.

Actually, I just looked and it looks like the geometry on the Pro is a little bit different than the others...it's designed for a longer travel fork and appears to have some extra reinforcement. The other frames are all the same (base, Comp, Comp Disc). All of the frames (including the Pro) are made of the same aluminum.

thanks for your input. what is the maximum travel that the base level Rockhopper can handle, without making the bike totally unmanagable or uncomfortable. would 130mm work?

I think if you want to go 130mm you have to get the Rockhopper All-Mountain model. Otherwise I believe you're looking at 100mm max.

I am a owner of a Rockhopper Pro model with the 130mm fork, I love this bike, that fork is a monster on the trail, its air preload so you can have a lbs pu the right amount of air in it for your riding style, but no problems with my bike and well worth the 1100
