There were two dramatic movies made in the recent past about the Beatles whose titles I simply cannot remember. One was about the weekend John Lennon and Brian Epstein spent together and the other was about the band during their Hamburg days. I believe the same actor played John Lennon in both movies. Anyone know the titles?
Theres quite a few movies, but I found 2 that had the same actor Ian Hart play John Lennon

This is probably the Brian Epstein movie you’re looking for:

The other film – I’m not sure. Please post if you figure it out.

Midqie, I think you’ve got it right. I only looked at films released after 1999 – my idea of “recent”. And the Brian Epstein movie I cited above is a documentary, not a dramatization – but I’m now very interested in seeing it.

since we're talking beatles, and because I've been reading the new bio, did John and Brian, during their vacation together, have, well, you know, sushi together?

I don’t think there’s any convincing evidence that Lennon was gay or bi. Way too much has been made of that rumor – since Epstein was gay and that he and Lennon went on a holiday together, therefore they had a fling – I don’t buy it. I also think that it’s unfortunate that the rumor tends to obscure the really interesting story: how the Epstein’s management skills were indispensable to the Beatles. They almost certainly wouldn’t have rocketed to fame in Britain and elsewhere without his influence and might have stayed together longer had he not died prematurely.
