Mountain Biking - Cortina Frame

After downhilling this year on a Giant AC1 I decided to purchase a full on DH frame. I bought a friend's Cortina DH-Extreme because of the great the condition it's in.

I'll be slowly building it up over the winter. I'm still undecided on the fork but I think I'll go with a Shiver.

Still have to decide on a few more items.

I bought it used from a friend of mine so I got it for a good price. He used it for three months at the beginning of the year until his "real" race bike came in. Definitely very happy with the deal. The frame is clean with no dents or barely any scratches. Of course, that will change as soon as I have my first crash. Unfortunately I won't be riding it until next year since that's when I'll have her built up. :(

I got to ride a friends, which was a '00, and the bike felt great. Very plush yet it actually pedalled very well. The nice thing about the design is that you don't get any brake jack. I plan on upgradign the Fox shock to either a Romic or an Avalanche so that will also make a big difference.

The head angle is steeper than on most DH bikes but it felt great and steered very quickly which works well for the type of riding in Nor Cal. The trails in Tahoe tend to be very technical with lots of tight turns.

As soon as I have her built up I will give a full detailed description on how she rides. I can't wait to finish building her up.

According to the Cortina Website the frame is $2199 brand new with a Fox. $300 more with an Avalanche. I'd say that you could probably get it for much less from a Dealer though.

Yes they do. They are this really cool little bike manufacturer out of Santa Barbara.
I've also had the chance to do some dirt jumping on their 4130 Slalom bike and it handles great in the air.
