I want to buy a whole V-brake setup (arms + levers), and am considering either Avid Single Digit 7 (with the Speed Dial levers) or Deore LX with the '04 parallelogram brakes (M570). Price for either setup is the same. I've read many many positive things about the SD-7's, so I am leaning very much towards the Avid setup. What do you guys think?
I would have preferred them in all black, but I'll probably get used to it. Can't find any good pics of the LX.
In the Shimano mountain bike brake line-up, I've only had lower level brakes/levers but I have the Avid Single Digit SL on my Rockhopper and they are great. A definite improvement over the stock Shimano brakes.
I'd recommend Avid.
The parallelogram Shimano brakes are all extremely nice though I don't have experience with LX. The XT's and XTR's are amazing though, my first choice for a v-brake.

I did not care for the sd7's they did not stay centered (seems to be a common problem with that) and nothing htrilling in stopping power. myself paul's motolites are likker brakes twice the power far easier to setup and only about 3 times the price (G)
