Well, after last years disappointment in NWD5, Big D, stepped it up this year with NWD6.

Music: More metal and punk this year than rap. Old metal at that, Megadeath, Dio, Anthrax, and Skid Row amongst it there are some rap, nowhere as near as last 2 years which seemed to be a rap fest.

Movie itself, there wasn't a section where I lost interest at all, the last few movies I got, put me to sleep. Not as much desert riding either, there is still some, but much more North Shore.

The sections that impressed me, Berrecloth killing it in opening segment, Carlin Dunne, never realized that he could go that fast on a bike, John Cowan throwing a flair at the end of his segment, Cedric Gracia's section was great showed how amazing his bike handling skills are, Paul Basagoita proves that he really can ride in the final segment, and throws down a 720 at the end. Those stood out to me, the whole movie was strong.

Overall, this is definately a major improvement from last year.

I found NWD6's music to be slightly worse than NWD5's (and I don't actually like rap, there was just simply too much "soft" music in some of the sections which killed the ambient, the songs I liked were from Aaron Chase's part, Paul Basagoitia, Berrecloth, Wayne Goss, Cam Zink, McCaul). The riding was up to par with NWD5 (and better in certain sections). Corkscrews seemed to be the new replacement for backflips, I don't like them personally, in my opinion a nicelly pulled off backflip is sweeter than a nicely pulled off corkscrew. 720 by Basagotia was really awesome, aswell as the intro, which set & ended the scene pretty nicely.

9/10 for NWD6, 9.5/10 had they put in better music
9.2/10 NWD5 ;)

I will give my opinion when I see it, I have been sorely disapointed lately so, I purchased the movie and haven't actually seen it yet. Maybe tonight :)

Thanks for the review, gives me some encouragement to watch it.

You're welcome, definately worth the see, I just hope you enjoy the music a bit more than me. :)

Well..if it is rap, then I will not like it, if it is old school heavy then i might find it more enjoyable.

I think I just need a year or two away from the industry, it has taken a turn I don't really enjoy...The whole paul b revolution kind of sucks imo. It takes tonnes of skill but doesn't do much for me.

Nah, not much rap, I'm more miffed about the "slow" music in it, kills the ambient in certain parts (it'd work for street clips but for DH and freeride parts it just doesn't seem to).

I haven't seen it yet, going to Adelaide premier on Fri, but looking at all the previews....... WHERE ARE THE AUSSIE RIDERS!!!!!!! I am feeling kinda disappointed about that:( Also looking at the teaser, the off axis flips, what I am assuming you are calling corkscrews, are not dialed. In an Aussie movie Rennie gets one past 60 degrees! He has them dialed.

A dodgy off axis flip, looks crap compare to a dialed back flip, but a dialed off axis flip looks just as dialed as a back flip. I may be wrong by this, but when you say corkscrew, I am thinking a lincoln flip. And as far as I know ther ehas only ever been one lincoln flip ever landed and that was at the Sea Otter DJ comp, forget who did it. A lincoln flip is the skiing term for a barrel roll basically.
