The first bike Edoardo Bianchi manufactured in 1885 had only one gear, not that he wanted people to suffer up the hills. It's just that his revolutionary vision of Celeste-colored human-powered two-wheelers predates the birth of gears. That's us, older than gears. Which is why when we introduce a new single-speed, it is somewhat of a contradiction. San Jose joins M.U.S.S and W.U.S.S. as the latest one-speeder that only makes sense if you get it. Unlike fixed-gear track bikes, which are the obvious standard for track racing and URBAN HIPSTER POTHOLE DODGING, our single-speeders have a one-speed freewheel, so you can enjoy the pain off-road. Based on the popular steel Volpe frame, but with horizontal rear-entry track dropouts. It also sports a custom Bianchi rear hub, Cane Creek SCX cantilevers, WTB All Terrainasaurus 700x32c tires and the famous Bianchi ride, born before gears.

URBAN HIPSTER POTHOLE DODGING, can you believe that is actually on their website. This hipster (talk) has gone a little far. Everybody go ride your bike and quit calling everyone you dont know a hipster. In reality we are probably all hipsters in some way or another. I am a hipster, you are a hipster.

eh, as far as the hipster fixie fad goes, i'd hope that they'd keep their fixies even after they lose the girl pants and white belts. if not, then the fixed community will have a wealth of stuff to choose from when the next pop-subculture rears it's ugly head.

No way man, you totally possess your hipsterdom. While I know you are a hipster, you also possess your hipster, it is like your inner-self. It is something you can not resist. And I am Ok with this.

Ha Ha
I changed that ****, **** you. And you still posses your hipsterdom.

I got it, lets start a photo thread. It will be one picture of you and your bike, then everyone in the forum will vote on how hipster you are. The scale will be from 1 to 10. 1 being least hipster and 10 being most hipster. After this we will all be put in are respected hipster classes and everyone will know everyone will know the status of everyone else and we will be able to go on with our lives.

we should organize a fixie rescue group, where we'll pick them up, fix them up and then adopt them out. in the event that one looks anything like that bike with the upside down chris king headset then we'll have to put it out of it's misery.

And it has to be at least a three-quarters-of-the-body shot, so that you can't hide your white belt, or girl pants (if you're a boy), or cowboy boots without cowboy jeans (if you're a girl).

And since we don't have any control over our place on the hipster timeline,
the fact that I was a hipster before you is meaningless as well.

this got pretty horribly out of control, didn't it? at least no one has actually posted photos of themselves... yet.

p.s. zach is one of the least-hipster guys in new york... if hipsters are to be defined in this way then this thread just lost what credibility (if any) it had.

First, we all need to start out with the same definition of what a hipster is. I am not sure, so some one needs to figure this out and post it. I do belive there was a pretty good one in that thread with that stupid modern amusement shirt. It sounds like we all have differant ideas of what a hipster is, a hipster should not be confused with a seasoned bike kid. Some people just look ****in cool and ride track bikes and have been doin this for sometime. As for posting pictures we need to set up some guidelines and new thread. Maybe there should be one of those sweet myspace descriptions of yourself next to the picture, you know the one where everyone tries to be clever but sounds really hipsterish. Hey Ho, Lets Go.

Because hipsters can't ride.

Q: What's the hardest part about admitting to your friends that you're a hipster?

A: Walking your track bike to the bar.
