Foo - XBOX 360 - 1500 dollars !

Hey, just wanted some comments on this

That darn XBOX 360... want demand... they are selling all the time on ebay for a whopping 1500 dollars for the big pack with 5 games...

remember that is 400 system + 300 in games = 700 approx ---- 800 dollars profit :eek:

There wouldn't be enough of them for everyone who wants one. Microsoft announced this months in advance. It's all a gimick to hype up demand for them to a rabid frenzy if you ask me. Started with the release of the PS2.

They went deBeers on the gaming industry and artificially created a shortage.

Lack of games is exactly why I wasn't so interested in buying it myself. There's no must have game for the 360. The big factor leading people to buy it I think is the social factor. The Xbox fanboys want to be the first one on their block with a 360 so they can have bragging rights.

KID, as in, they pay me to come pick up their kid's xbox because the spoiled brat would rather party with friends than see mom and dad :). I wouldn't mind that.

I can get what was then a state of the art Sega Dreamcast for like 20 bucks now when I would've had to pay hundreds when it first game out.

I'm thinking now is the time to get a regular X-box. I should be able to pick up a used one of craigslist with Halo and Project Gotham for not too much. For me, console gaming is way more about having fun with friends (and squinting to see the tiny split screen) than about the latest hardware. For that, I blow money on the PC, where the games tend to cost a little less anyway.

Xbox, meh. Another big bunk of MS box in your living room. I've gone off gaming generally these days - but I sure do miss it sometimes.

There's only one game I've played in the last 10 years that has been enough to make me buy a console - GTA. My most important points in choosing are the game, the controller (PS joypad is the only one for me), and the fact that it's not some hideous, garish kerthunk of a box.

I'd only ever bother with a PlayStation. But I'll wait this time around, see if the next GTA installment(s) offer anything new. I'm in no rush. For now I'll just sit back and watch the hype bubble bloom :D

I heard some may have gone for as much as 3k. And that MS doesnt have enough for this upcoming holiday.

the simple solution to appease your gaming needs is use a computer. Computers are better for gaming, and good for multi purpose. 1500 dollars will get you a nicer computer than X box. What a waste

And a lot of x box games are availible on computer so it works out good.

It's all hype. The games are the same rehashes of old games in the same genres. The racing/action/adventure/roleplaying/whatever games aren't getting better or more fun as systems get more powerful, they're just getting better graphics and a couple added features. And you can't see the difference in graphics anyways if you don't have a top of the line HDTV. Counterstrike has been the best multiplayer game for the past what, seven years? Nothing changes but the graphics and a couple new levels. You can play it on an old cheap computer too.

I'm going to save my $500 and just get a new bike.

You could build one capable of playing original Xbox-era games properly for that much if you already had some of the parts, but not the really new games, and certainly not at HDTV resolutions with anything resembling performance.

I heard that the original Xbox will cost around $100 not too long from now, and if that's the case I'll buy one, and probably load XBMC and put my old 80GB drive in, and use it for music. If that even works with the latest version of the boxes, I don't know about that.

By the time you have bought your X box and all the accessories for it, you could have a computer of good quality. You can spend that 400 dollars on parts to make your computer into a gaming system, and spend less on accessories. With X box accessories, your bound to microsoft stuff so they set the price

Sure, if you count the price of an LCD capable of HDTV resolutions...

you look at the second game controllers, the microphone or whatever. ANd my friend has this thing called "I toy", or something like that. Its a camera and you can play the games through that. The steering wheel for the racing games, i saw one dancing game that required the purchase of some mat that you actually dance on. By the time you've added it up, you could just use your computer.

The sad thing is though - you dont have to even reach 1k and youv'e got something that is just about as good and much more versatile. But then again I'll never understand the console people. To each his own :)
