Mountain Biking - Good truck bed bike rack/new equip

Hey all. I want to buy a bike rack that goes in a truck bed, and I was hoping someone could recommend a good one. I did some searches and found a few, but I always prefer feedback from people that acutally use them. Also, tommorow I'm picking up my new bike, and I'll be buying some gear to go with it. I know I'll need a pump, tubes, etc, but I was wondering what else would be good to have as gear to ride with. Thanks for any responses.

I carry mine like this and I make him ride on the tailgate!

Thats a good start.

Here's mine. Just used three $20 fork mounts and a treated 2x8. It holds three bikes comfortably.

Seriously though, I've been using this set up for as long as I have been riding and never had a problem. I just don't see any reason to spend a bunch of money for a rack to go in the back of a truck.

66, that pal Dave(?) of yours we rode Reasonover with had some sort of Sportworks set up in the tailgate hinge of his truck that seemed to work extremely well, although I suspect the cost was significantly more than a chunk of 2x8.

Very good point and honestly I never even thought about it. I've never used 20mm axles and probably will never have the need to. I'm just an XC and roadie geek. I don't ride anything that would require me too ever need anything stronger than a standard axle.

Now, if I were to do that I would probably get one of the Sportsworks instagator racks.

I have a Sportworks hitch rack and love it. I think they were recently bought out by Thule.

A few friends of mine use their hitch rack, that is the best designed rack I have seen to date. Bikes are very secure on there, plus I like how it is easily expandible to carry four bikes.
