I recently have a 52 chainring to a 20t cog

I'm thinking of building another bike and have a 42t chainring...what size cog do I need to get in the back to create the same or almost the same gear ratio...

you should just go to sheldon's site if you have questions, period. and browse around there every now and then...very informative, you might find answers to questions you didn't know you had.

Chainring times (x) 27 divided(/) by the rear cog. ie 46x27/18 = 69.....

Am I the only standover man that offers bloody mathematical advice to these idiots...
