has anyone ever seen lobster mittens made from wool? i'm pretty anti-synthetic, but i can't deny the usefullness of lobster mitts. wool ones with a leather palm would be ideal...any leads?

Yes, You should be able to get woolen lobster mitts at any army/navy surplus store. They are the liners for winter overmitts/shooting gloves. I had them when I was a reservist. No Leather palms that I can recall. Those are on the cotton overmitt.

wool military shooter's mitts are actually trigger finger mitts, instead of lobster claw, and this is advantageous to better dexderity AND the ability to pool all the fingers togther in the main finger box for extra warmth in extreme cold.
I'm pretty sure lobster mitts were invented for Vulcans, and then a Japanese clothing firm (PearlIzumi? MontBell?) that makes split toe sandal socks thought it would make sense for hands too. 'Cepting that it really doesn't.
