Folding Bikes - I tried my full size bike last week

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

After 7 months of riding small wheeled bikes, I rode one of my full size bikes last week.

I bought my first Bike Friday in May of this year. I now own 2 BF's and a Swift on the way. After 4,000 miles of riding folding bikes, I tried my LOOK full size bike last week. The first ride took some getting use to. The steering on big bikes is sluggish compared to 20" wheeled bikes. I feel like I have much more control on my small wheeled bikes. The biggest difference is I'm more comfortable on my Bike Fridays than on any other bike I've owned.

Whether it's 10 miles or 100 miles, the BF is my bike of choice.

The benefits of flolding bikes are well known to the people on this forum. For Travel, commuting, packing in a small space, small bikes are outstanding. I've also found that my small bikes are more comfortable and just plain more fun than my big bikes.....

When I first got a folder I thought the steering was too squiggly because the response time was different than a full size bike. I got used to the folder after riding for a couple of blocks. Now I have no problems alternating between my folder and full size road bike. For me, the destination that I'm going to dictates whether I take my full size or folder.

I'm getting more and more accustomed to switching between my Dahon SpeedPro and Lemond Reno (folder and full-size, respectively). To be honest, my favorite is whichever I happen to be riding.
