View Full Version : Other "flat foot" cruisers?

My Mom (75 years old) wants a bike, but I want her on a bike that she can put her feet flat on the pavement with while seated on the saddle.

Of course the Electra Townie comes to mind, but the Electra dealer is pretty far from her home. Like an hour away.

Do any other quality bikes come to mind that have a similar geometry? (semi-recumbent... and no, just lowering the seat on a regular bike won't do, she won't get the leg extension while pedaling).

Thanks in advance.

check out the cruisers on the Trek site. Singlespeed, Nexus 3 or 7 speed, feet on the ground, upright geometry, cool-looking.

Fuji makes some cruisers, too.

That Revive also has an electric option, too.

My wife has one of these: http://www.trekbikes.com/bikes/2005/citybike/calypso.jsp#. It's not exactly a cruiser but the seat is set back far enough to get flat footed.

Raleigh also makes one they call the Gruv in two different models. The one is a 7speed the other a 21speed. it's a rather economical model.
