This better not turn into a huge flame war with each side picking and choosing which bike is better.

I figure I have 5 hardrocks - a 99 steel frame, and a 2001 AL frame one that I've paid for at least twice... then there are my 2 sons....

I'm more of a Punkrocker myself.

But if I were to get a Hardrock, what would be the benefits of membership in this club/cult/herd of sheep?

You know I've got one but I aint gettin' in no cult. The whole thing seems a little strange to me. Will you guys have a yearly convention?

If they did, it would be overdoing it.

is it me or is this club thing getting kinda old...its fun in hte beginning but like clubruiser wasnt really a club, like the original post said "not anything special...just stick in your sig" its more or less saying i have a bruiser rather than just saying 2002 Trek Briuser 2 or whatnot.

That's right. Soon to come: front & rear Avid Juicy 5, X7 derailleur, X7 shifters, Doubletrack wheelset

MadMan2k
12-03-05, 10:49 AM
How much is that Doubletrack wheelset going to run?

I think you might be better off getting avid mechs rather than juicy 5's, and maybe an XT/rhynolite wheelset rather than the doubletracks, and then using the money to get a new fork?
Upgrading to the MX I have made a huge difference riding anything rough. I can actually ride it fast without feeling out of control because of the front popping up at the slightest thing, and the fork bouncing up and down the whole time.

I'm actually in a bit of a dilemma now.. I don't like the hardrock frame much anymore, and I don't want a geared bike. So I don't want to go singlespeed on the frame I have, and if I do get a singlespeed MTB, I want it to be a light XC bike, and none of the parts I have are very lightweight. So I'll buy a singlespeed bike for nearly all my riding and keep the hardrock to beat up on shorter rides or ones where I might need to follow the same pace as someone on a geared bike :P

Thanks! I don't like how the reflectors look either, but seeing as how I have a black bike and a black jacket, I'm keeping them on in the interest of safety.

Sorry, but I'm still in the primitive and use dial-up. Is there any other way to view "thevishfiles" other than waiting an hour to download them? Stream maybe?

My computer's crap, still running Windows ME.

Would love to check these out though, any help would be great. thanx.

here's a stream of his latest movie, with a cool story at the beginning and some crashes at the end.

this is after he bought his demo and hung up his hardrock.

The Doubletrack wheelset ran me 130 euros, shipped. :D
As for Avid Mechs, here they'd cost nearly the same as what I bought my Juicy's for (Avids here are about 90 euros/each, Juicy 5s, back in Hungary, the front one ran me about 120 euros) and anyway, I just don't like the feel of mechs (although some are, of course, powerful).

XT/Rhynolite would run me much more money, so there'd be no way I could get a new fork. :)
