not you queens.
why do you care what kind of bb
hes probably just trying to find a bb worthy enough to be trendy so he can be like all the other wanna-bes and have his bike built to someone elses specs and recomendations becuase for some reason or another thats the cool thing to do.
he rides the same frame as me, with a euro bb. now i want a new frame....
unless you wanna spend a extra 40$ on a conversion kit than doesnt it depend on the frame?
I have American, but when I get the LAF or the Lary Bird, im gonna go to Mid. Because that's the ****.
1.37"x24tpi (Euro), and a bag full of replacement bearings for when they get smashed.
i never cracked a euro bearing, and i frequently pedal grind

And your point? I've smashed 'em, so obviously they *can* be destroyed. American bearings can be destroyed too, the same laws of physics apply. Most people don't realize that cartridges can often be replaced without replacing the entire BB unit, that's the beauty of BMX cranksets (vs most road and mountain cranksets which require specialized tools, bearing presses and the like). I like Euro 'cause they're easily serviced, bearings can be replaced and since all other things are pretty much equal, it just looks trick.
American. I bought my frame before the euro craze.
What ever is on my Haro cruiser. Stock, not sealed. But have had no problems.
The only BB I've ever broke is a isis on a feeble grind gone bad. The spanish I have now seem better but i havn't really smashed it yet.
