This should make for a fun commute tomorrow:
"Thursday
Windy. Rain...heavy at times. Highs in the mid 50s to lower 60s. Southeast winds 20 to 35 mph with local gusts to 50 mph. Winds diminishing late in the day."

wow. good thing you've got all that shiny rain gear, huh?
extreme weather can be really fun. so far to me, those days have been incredibly exciting and satisfying - each one had the perma-grin value of an entire month's worth or more ordinary rides. course, there's always a chance i should just go get my head examined.
let us know how it goes. details, you hear?

Days like that stay with you if you make it. Everything else seems easier.

Just lather up before you leave and the weather should take care of the rinse for you.

Laziness is for life! I've rode in similar conditions, but it doesn't mean I jump on my bike when it's a beautiful day out cuz sometimes, staying in bed seems like a much better idea.

We're well aware of your variety of mental defects. :D Anyway, what I mean is the next time you're riding and it starts to rain, it seems like nothing because you've seen worse.

What sounds like just another commute. Here's my weather today
"Cloudy with snow developing late. High 34F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 80%. 1 to 2 inches of snow expected."
And I thought it was a beautiful day for a ride. Commuters from CA are spoiled.
I'm always amazed that despite having many days with rain in Cleveland there are very few days where I actually ride in the rain. Sounds like you may have one of those days in SF.

50 mph. gusts...depends on which direction. Not sure I wouldn't sit on the train for that. Don't care for 50 mph. needles in my face. :)
Rain is messy, but ok if I'm warm enough.

Turns out I was real comfy. All my gear kept me warm, dry, and visible. There were some magnificent downpours today during the middle of the day, but rain was light for my commute both ways.
Frankly, I was disappointed, looking forward to riding in a gullywasher. Oh well, it'll happen.
