It has only been down to 25 F here. Not bad but I need better gloves.

We got down to 17C recently and we were all shivering.... Oh, I forgot, that is supposed to be in F. Let's seen 17 * 9 / 5 = 32 = 62.6 F

I am sure you are feel for us down here...

Last saturday was the coldest so far (this year), -22F/-30C when I left the house and it might have dipped down a bit while I was out to around -25F/-31C. This morning it was 12F/-11C when I left for work and it felt like springtime.

-18F

That was on monday, it was about -28C. I rode to work and back, and it took me really long. Like, 1hr10min each way. Data said that Tuesday was -30C, so it's possible I was riding in -22F too. At any rate these might be a few degrees C lower than I rode in, but I left pretty early in the morning...

11F, 15 to 20mph headwind (gusts to 25), 13 miles to work on Thursday morning in Omaha, Nebraska.

Tuesday in Calgary it was about -24C (-something or other in F). Is the grease freezing up why it seems to take so much effort for me to ride in those temps? Otherwise it was a beautiful ride - I was actually annoyed when it warmed up to -2C because the snow became soft and annoying.

Don't think anyone in Cowtown (or Hogtown for that matter) will get even in the top ten, those peggers, sask and north of 60 types are going to run away with it for sure.

I've ridden at 3F/-16C so far this year. Just shorts, t-shirt, gloves, and earwarmers are usally adequate for me. None of that fancy stuff. It got up to 39F today and I was sweating pretty bad. I prefer the cold over the heat any day.

Just hit 2F this morning. I was trying to "will" the cyclocomputer to drop below zero, but it wasn't happening. ;)

My coldest commute so far in Ottawa this morning: -15°C which is, what, like 5°F or something? My usual commute is about 13.5km.

mine was a balmy 22F. I feel like a wuss with cold toes compared to some of you nuts! We'll go colder but I doubt we hit your lows.

-8F. Also got my first flat tire on that day. Luckily I was a slow leak and I pumped it up and worried about at my lunch break INSIDE.

Forgive my skepticism, but how long do you ride at 3F in your tshirt and shorts?

I did 15 miles this morning at 10F to 15F.
Insulated tights, winter shoes, wool socks, soft shell jacket, face mask, and ski gloves. I felt fine. If I had been wearing a tshirt, I would certainly not have felt fine.

I can not believe you could ride 5 miles at 3F in shorts and a tshirt. What's your story?

-26 F?

Where are you?
I used to do negative digit rides in Kansas City, MO every winter. -26 is impressive, I think -20 was my coldest ride. I remember wearing a ski mask to go to work and finding ice on the outside where my breath condensed. I also rode in a parka and mittens.

I live in the bay area now. don't own a parka anymore, don't need one. but I kinda miss the frigid rides now and then.

Last Sunday it was 15F with a 15 - 20 NNW headwind = 0F WC..brrrr....I rode for 2 hours. I've lived in Iowa for almost 3 years, but this will be my first year of commuting and serious riding in the winter! I'm sure I will see colder days :)

Coldest so far was about -18C (0F), but it was also windy as hell (-35C chill factor).
This was about a week or so ago when the west got that arctic blast.

Zero's been my coldest ride so far, with a -15 wind chill, middle of last week here in Wisconsin. We haven't really had any cold weather to speak of. Last year I made it out for a good jaunt when it was 20 below (or -29 for my friends in Flin Flon and Moose Jaw.)

So far, I've barely needed anything more than a moisture-wicking shirt under my jacket, something to cover the ears and toesties, which I don't even bother with unless it's below 15-20. Yesterday morning it was 36 and I was sweating big time. Heavy gear still awaits. Darn El Nino.

I would be VERY suprised if you road in -20 F weather in Missouri.

It's been unusually cold here in L.A. I went riding Monday night and it was very cold: upper 40's. We nearly hit freezing that night with a low of 34. I was covered head to toe with: facemask, Kodiak jacket, thermal gloves ,thermalfleece tights, and shoe covers. But dammit, I was still cold! Going down the canyons the wind went right through my tights. By the weekend though we should be getting into the low 70's so in the meantime I've been riding my indoor trainer.

Only -28C (-18.4 F) so far this year, But with wind chill it's been colder than that. Lots of time to hit -40C :)

well, i know i won't win any "contest" but today was one of the colder rides i've had... certainly the coldest ride this season... -14C (-24C with the "wind chill") and wind 24km/h gusting to 48. i was sure glad that i have a short commute!

-5F, not counting wind chill, 14 miles. I was gonna wimp out and take the bus (Which still would have gotten me my 5 mile minimum), but the bike rack was frozen solid  :)

I don't ride in these temps but I see a lot of bikes commuting and the couriers are out all the time. This morning it was -41F and windchill at 5AM was -56F. The sky was clear this morning but we had heavy fog(ice crystals) you could see maybe 500 feet. It was a cold weekend, -40 to -50 with windchills all weekend. It may stay cold for the rest of the week. Here is a link to the the last 24 hour temps in Winterpeg (Winnipeg) http://weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/trends_table/pages/ywg_imperial_e.html We are the coldest city in the world with population over 500,000 people. There is cities under 500,000 that are colder.

Here is a weird one, Gimli Manitoba is aprox 50 miles north of Winnipeg. They had clear sky all night and at 9AM they had heavy rain at -36 temps. Last night at 8:00 they had heavy snow but it was clear for the hours before and after. I heard on the news this morning they had hail at 8AM. This is in -35 temps. http://weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/trends_table/pages/ygm_imperial_e.html

I set a new personal best this morning at -15F. I was nice and toasty all the way in. In fact, my ski goggles are too warm. Maybe I'll cut some holes in them or something.

Minus 22 Celsius today - minus 6 Fahrenheit - and with the wimp-chill factor, they claim it was like minus 20 Farenheit.

...but it's a dry cold.

yes, we can now officially say that the montreal local global warming is over... i've even seen a windchill of -36C today... that is more on the -32.8F side... because of the 52 km/h wind... AND _ 50% humidity _ :) . but you all know what we all think of the windchill factor anyway... But i think we should start using the humidex crap in winter too... :)

[i like you wimp-chill expression...]

Try this first look at the top and bottom sides of the ski goggles there should be some foam inserts. try pulling a layer out to let some air in before cutting. You can also loosen up your goggel strap to let more air in.

12F, -11 C with blowing snow :) (on a Saturday for fun, not during the commute :))

Now down to -15 or -17F depending on which thermometer you read...

Good idea. I removed most of the foam on the side vents. It does seem like a better approach than removing the actual screen.

I'm happy to report that this was very effective. Without the foam, the goggles are now perfect.

I was riding that day also in Winnipeg. The cold definitely makes it harder to pedal and I got a lot of funny smiles from people in cars. The sunrises on cold days with the sundogs are beautiful out in the country though!

This year: 0*F without wind chill (twice, including this morning)

Lifetime: I think about -8*F, maybe in 2005?

F/C conversion function and chart here (http://users.nlamerica.com/kevin/Temp.htm) (among about a million others). -40 is the point where they converge. 0F is about -18C. 0C is of course 32F.
