I have an older Bianchi with a threaded headest assembly, and i was thinking about changing it to unthreaded, because i saw a pretty nice unthreaded fork for cheap. However, I have heard that headest conversions can be pricy. What can i expect to pay, JUST FOR the headest conversion? (from threaded to unthreaded)

Contact Rainman on the forums. He has done this several times and knows how to do it good AND cheap.

That friggin adapter only allows one to use a threadless type stem in an otherwise threaded sysrtem. You need the threadless fork with the right steerer diameter for your headtube, threadless headset and a threadless stem. What you pay depends on if you buy good stuff or junk and have to have some do the work of removing old HS, insttalling new stuff and adjusting it.

What then??......low end, bottom of the barrel is not worth wasting time with. what do you really plan to gain anyway?
