Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Quick sizing question...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
My girlfriend is 5'2. Whats a good size frame to start looking for?
Also any good frames to recommend? Of course IRO is already on the list if they make a small enough frame. I was also looking at the Kogswell mixte style frame-anyone own one?

how long is her torso? the top tube measurement is pretty much just how far forward she'll have to lean.
EDIT: but at 5'2", it can't be very big, unless she's got a very disproportioned body. ha.
I'm 5'7" and I ride a size 50 (the smallest) Mark V, albeit with a 130mm stem and it feels just right. I have about an inch of clearance over the top tube. I'm pretty sure that it would be too big for someone who's 5'2" with 700c's. Perhaps smaller wheels and cranks would do the trick?

do you think that'd help? i can't see it myself....the stem, on the other hand, i can definitely see where that would help out a lot.

get her a 46cm frame. there is some on ebay. you have more options when you go the mtb bike frame route since they almost always have sloping top tubes and they are designed to have more crotch clearance. I'd say get her a 13" mtb frame. don't get her the IRO frame. I'm 5'5(have short inseam 27.5) and it is not my size. Which is Tony's lost since I'm a bike nut.

if you go the ebay route, just make sure you ask what the standover height is and educate them that it is measured from the ground to the top of the top tube.
Perhaps this (http://www.broadwaybicycleschool.com/broadwaybike1.html) would work?
Broadway is my favorite local bike shop. They do quality work.

my lady is 5'2" and rides a 48cm top tube. actually she can go from a 46-50 depending on stems and such. it's always a job to fine tune the fit for her. less wiggle room .
I built up for my wife (also 5'2") a 51 c-c bike that fits perfect. Size depends on lots more than just height. Use a few of the online sizing tools (you can even have fun doing the measurements!) and see what they recommend. Also note their biases (racing/speed, touring/comfort, etc.) Combination of frame size (seat tube and top tube matter), seatpost height, seatpost setback, saddle position, crank length, stem lenght/angle, hbar dimentions, (insert whatever I've forgotten) will determine final fit of the bike.
