06 Marzocchi DJ2 I'm trying to measure the crown race to axle. What exactly is the crown race/where is it measured from?

The "crown race" is the headset race installed on the fork steerer. The distance you want to measure is from the base of the crown race (the "flat" at the base of the fork's steerer tube that the crown race sits on) to the center of the front axle.
