Bicycle Mechanics - Mechanical help

I have a 2004 model Trek Liquid 25.

There is a creaking noise coming from the rear shock, or rear shock bracket, when the suspension
is in use.

I have taken the bike to a couple of cycle shops but they can't seem to find the problem.
Have had the bike pulled apart and fully serviced, but still the creaking is there when the bike
is off road.

Any advice or anyone with a similar problem, would be great to hear from you

The spring could be causing the creaking. When the spring compresses, the wire of the spring acrually goes into torsion. If you take into consideration the end coils which are in contact with the spring seat, they would have to rub againse the spring seat while going in torsion probably causing the creaking sound. Try wetting the spring and the seats with water and see it the creaking stops.

Also check the bushings at the bolt points on either end of the shock, they may be worn out. Any shop should be able to order you replacements if this is the case.

Sounds are deceptive, humans aren't very good at locating their sources. Consider other possibilities, like the saddle. If you are pushing down on the saddle to test the rear shock, it could be tricking you.
